All theories are created equal just as the universe. Where there was a void now there is a theory.
Any way 137,543,212,123 years ago next August, (Mark Twain, figures) there was nothing, a void so to speak. Then in that void there developed a hole and into that hole all the nothing was sucked in until it became over ful of nothing and exploded. (Like a Mexican party where there is too much booze) In other words, Quantum theory suggests that moments after the explosion at 10 -43 second, the four forces of nature; strong nuclear, weak nuclear, electromagnetic and gravity were combined as a single "super force"(Wald). Elementary particles known as quarks (quarks different from quacks which came later with the evolution of medical colleges.) begin to bond in trios, forming photons, positrons and netrinos and were created along with their antiparticles.
Now the atheist would have the date in our letters written thus Dec. 15, 137,543,212,123.
In fairness I would point out that 137,543,212,123 is not an exact figure. It was just the largest number available at the time. There were billions in 1927. It was only when Congress established the national debt that Trillions came into general circulation.
This is the big bang theory. I felt always that a theory was a hypothesis based on speculation brought about by contemplation of an assumption, postulated by something which could be demonstrable, repeatable, and observable. My definition of a theory won't play here. The big band theory can be neither demonstrated, repeated, or observed.
Now after the Big Bang, some other deep thinkers came up with evolution in which everything from Dingos to Dinosaurs were formed. Before the Dingos and Dinasaurs , the universe was in that state of a void vacuum. There was nothing (comparable to Enron assets.) there came a bolt of lightning and hit a pool of stagnant water ( where did the water and lightning come from has yet to be explained by the followers of Darwin.) Any way this water may have come from rain which is also not in the equation of evolution.
In the time of Socrates Strepsiades one of Socrates students thought that rain came from "Zeus urinating through a sieve." Socrates explains that the clouds cause rain. He goes on to demonstrate that thunder is caused by the clouds turning somersaults. Stepsiades belief is probably closer to the truth of what caused rain than the scientific community has in their theory of evolution.
Anyway bolts of lighting zapped a pool of ground water and helped bacteria adapt and evolve. These electrical currents help soil bacteria exchange DNA.
By-n-by after many false starts Dingos and Dinosaurs evolved. Man and MacDonalds come later in this development.
These views are cleared by the ACLU to be taught in public School.
Man is smart and is getting smarter. We can clone, duplicate, fornicate, multiply and falsify, but we cannot make something out of nothing. The atheist would like to make nothing out of something.
Now what they teach me at Buck Creek may be wrong, but I believe it. If I am right in my belief, I look to an eternity of bliss, if I perchance happen to be wrong, when I pass, the world will be a better place to live because of the teachings of Christ as practiced by Christians. If the atheist are wrong in their belief, they are in a hell of a fix.

X'Chairman's Corner Franklin Sutton week of Septmeber 9, 2003 Southern Bell v. Reuben Norman
Recently Southern Bell has sued a local Colquitt County citizen, Dr. Reuben Norman. The Atlanta Federal court has taken jurisdiction. Southern Bell claims an infringement on their trade mark in the site owned by Dr. Norman, Bellessouth.net. Bellessouth.net offers free e-mail service such as that offered by Hotline.
Southern Bell claims that the two are so similar as to provide an infringement. You would wonder why Southern Bell would not have also protected all spellings of Southern and Bell when they established their website.
The Bellessouth.net was set up by Dr. Norman in the Spring of 2001. Later that same year Bell South sent a cease and desist letter in November of that year.
Others have been sued by Bell South and have had to give up their registered site names, not because they were infringement, but because of the cost of litigation of such a suit.
There is legal precedence to indicate that large companies cannot commandeer the language. The Supreme court ruled in a suit against Victor Mosely who had established the web site Victor's Little Secret. Victoria's Secrete the clothing company had sued on the basis of patent infringement.
A similar suit was filed in 1940. It seems that the famous syndicated columnist William Wolf Rosenburg writing under the name of Billy Rose had filed an infringement suit against a Billy Rose(his own name) for using the name Billy Rose on an ice cream parlor in the site of the Worlds Fare in 1940. The famous Billy Rose had a Billy Rose Aqucade on the same site.
The judge ruled that it would be perfectly legitimate for Mr. William Wolf Rosenburg to object to some one using his name, a name which he might have made famous, but he could not take away the right of the real Billy Rose to use his name in selling ice cream. The fact was Mr. Rosenburg was using his pen name in his Aquade and was objecting to Billy Rose using his real name.
This seems to be the case in many instances today, the rich and powerful seek to monopolize not by legal right but by virtue of financial might. A small independent cannot outlast the deep pockets of the rich and powerful companies.
Southern Bell had every right to have purchased any name which was not already taken. By default they lost the Bellssouth.net.
Language should be in the public domain and those wishing to copyright, patent, or trademark their name should be restricted to that name only. They shouldn't be allowed to sit on all similar spellings.

The Los Angeles times is to the Democrat Party as Pravda was to the Communist Party.
Someone is going to charge me with a preconceived dislike for the Los Angeles Times. This is not correct. For years, I have used the Archives of the Los Angeles times for political research. I recommend their service. You can call, specify a subject, approve the selection and they will fax you the information and charge your phone number.
Some are going to charge me with favoring Arnold. This is also not correct. If I lived in California, I would support McClintock. I would also wish that Bustamonte would win. This might be considered a paradox. It is not. California is in such a mess that no one elected Governor is going to fix the mess. I had rather the Democrats take the blame.
The reason that I claim that the Los Angeles times is an arm of the Democrat party, is that it is true.
Let us look at the late intelligence on the recall and selection of a new Governor.
The Groping charge had been in the works for several weeks. When it appeared that Arnold would be the front runner, the Times placed two senior political writers on the project of background investigation of Arnold. They did not investigate either Bustamonte or McClintock or any of the other 150 candidates. This alone shows a double standard.
They were very supportive of Governor Davis. They not only did not investigate his past. They actively covered his misdeeds. Reporter Jill Stewart had done research on allegations that Governor Davis had acted improperly against women staffers. She charges that Los Angeles times reporters worked on the same story and the Times didn't print. This story which was stiffed at the Times alleged that Davis was profane and abusive, threw telephones and ash trays and verbally grabbed women staffers and shook them.
The Times is not incensed by crude actions of Democrats. For months they were silent on Gary Condit. He was their man. They continued to overlook the sexual antics of Bill Clinton. They buried the Juanita Broderick story. They refused to run an article by syndicated writer George Will when he wrote about Clinton crude practices.
Was Arnold's action reprehensible?
If true yes, but if you remove all groupers from politicks, you would not have anyone left to run the cities, counties, States or the Federal Government. Schools, Churches, and the general public would also be decimated.
Groping is not new, in Japan the subways have had to add special cars for ladies. Nagoya's Higashiyama Line was Japan's first subway to set up women's only carriages as a means to fight train groupers.
Groping was also practiced on the Ellenton to Norman Park School Bus in the mid forties. Those so bold found out that the Girls were not completely defenseless. "Popping Jaws" served to thwart unwanted advances. If the advances were not unwanted, well that is another story.
People are in denial. I would suspect that most women now married started their courtship by being subjected to discreet groping by their now husbands. If they were groped by someone in whom there was no interest, they slapped his face, - Good. It seems that discrete groping is a way to get started in a romance.
The California Democrats have their panties in a wad because of Arnold's groping. There seemed to be no problem with these women until he appeared to be on the path to being the next Governor, a Republican at that.
I would poise this question to Democrat women insulted at the thought of being groped by Arnold. Had you rather Arnold grope you or Bill Clinton send a State Patrolmen to compel you, a state employee, to go to a Hotel room and do as he was accused of doing.
The world is not a perfect place. Sports, Politics, Music etc. is aphrodisiac. In all these there are "Groupies" who get their thrills from the sexual advances of those in these trades. One might think that these groupies enjoyed the advances at the time. It was only at the time that they could sell their stories to the National Enquirer or gain notoriety in the Los Angeles Times that they became offended.
Since the world is not a perfect place, we must ask ourselves if crudeness has to be overlooked in those we elect to serve us. The answer should be yes, but we should not have double standards.
If crudeness is O.K. for Democrat Clinton, Kennedy, Johnson and others, it should be O.K. for Republicans Packwood, Arnold and others.
The seriousness of this is that double standards are not the sole monopoly of the L.A. Times. It is practiced by most news papers.
One last item. There was vigorous dissent in the senior editors of the L.A. Times. Two editors argued against publishing the groping stores. The argument being, "Publishing would hurt the L.A. Times more than it would hurt Arnold." This argument seems to clinch the disputation that the Times was more interested in "hurting" the chances of Arnold being Governor than it was interested in informing the public.
This is being written before the election is over. I do not know the winner. I suspect that California will select Republican in the name only' Arnold Swartzenigger. I would hope that Lt. Governor Cruise Bustamonte would be selected and let the Democratic stew in their own Broth. Public initative, a Democratic process, has installed so many mandated cost in CA. that fixing the problem is almost impossible. The only way to undo an initative is to have another initative or a Judge to declare it unconstitutional. Neither is likely. Tax increases are about the only way. Let the Democrats do it.

More on School Comparisons
Last week my article was titled "on Comparing, Apples, Oranges, Pears, Bananas and SAT Scores." I felt that this title would indicate the impossibility of a definitive value on the performance of different school systems. The fact is such comparisons are and cannot be an exact science. The fact remains, however; that there must be some way to qualify the performance of different schools in the preparation of its students. Testing is the way which we try to compare the work product of educators. Inaccurate, sure but tests are the only way to make system comparisons.
When certain systems fall at the end of the spectrum, those responsible seek explanations to justify the low performance of their students.
I suggested that some academics placed the blame on "Blacks" for the poor performance of their student body. I further suggested that this was not the reason. I did not suggest that Blacks did as well on these tests. They do far worse. But Blacks are not the reason that our schools fall at the bottom of the test spectrum. Test scores are averages of percentages and other systems also have Blacks and some of the surrounding Souther States have a higher percentage of Black Students and test higher than Georgia.
There are many reasons that Blacks test lower. Economic conditions, Lack of home help in study, one parent families etc. There are many reasons to explain their low performance. Being unable to learn is not one of them. (We are still talking about percentages)
At one time I felt that Dr. Noah Langdale President of Georgia State University was the most erudite speaker which I had ever listened to. The sophisticated, intellectual content of his speeches was far and above others to whom I listened. He was White. Then along Came Alan Keyes. In my opinion he is more erudite than Dr. Langdale. He is Black. Neither are average, they are above average.
The over all average experienced by Ga. students is lower because of Blacks, but some of those who do better on test us have more blacks than we.
I mentioned that thirty years ago, Pelham ranked very high in those areas tested. The SAT test, the Iowa test, the numbers of hours of subject matter taken in State Universities, and the Grade Point Average in these systems. Pelham was a city system and I did not have a current comparison for last weeks article.
I received feed back from two sources. One had also heard that Pelham was a superior school, the other suggested that it had not fared as well as it had when Morrison was superintendent. I then gathered information from the State Department of education.
Pelham has indeed fallen back. Their the National SATaverage is 1012, the state average is 975, the Colquitt average is 944, Pelham averages 886. (From Ga. education report card by the DOE) This is an example of management, thirty years ago, Pelham was high. Now it is lower.
Pelham spends less than the State. It's cost per FTE is $5409, Colquitt Co is $6076.00 and the State average is$6661.00. The Colquitt County millage rate for education is 8.8 mills. The Pelham rate is 7.5 mills.
The State reports teacher salaries as average daily salaries. For Pelham the administration average is $277.00, the Support Personnel is $211.80 and the PK-12 Teachers make $218.00 per day.
In Colquitt the administration makes $312.00, the Support Personnel make $249.00 and the PK-12 average $217.00 per day.
The State average is $330.20 for administrators, $268.00 for Support Personnel, and $230.72 per day for PK-12 Teachers.
Colquitt County is one of five counties who have a special 1% sales tax for education. This did not come about by chance. While I was in the Senate and Hugh Matthews was in the House we discovered a legal loop hole which allowed for a special tax. We passed that 1% tax for M&O through the Legislature. (With substantial opposition form the City of Moultrie.) The bill being a revenue bill started in the House and when it passed to the Senate, I offered an amendment which yearly would roll back property tax in the same amount collected.
Mitchell county followed the next yearand if my memory serves me correct three other counties followed before the law was amended to prohibit 1% taxes for school M&O.
Colquitt in effect has a 2% sales tax advantage compared to most counties. (Due to Matthews\Sutton legislation.)
The last statement was a throw away. It said, Colquitt County does well in Football. The sentence simply was dropped in to show that we can excel in a program where emphasis is placed on that program. I do not watch food ball and I would not notice if another game was ever played. I do not resent the program. Other people do watch foot ball. I am concerned with the amount of preparation which the children receive to make them prepared to face the demands of life. I wish that my tax funds would be more productive in the reading, writing, and arithmetic.

ON COMPARING APPLES, ORANGES, PEARS, BANANAS AND SAT SCORES.
For the year 2003 Georgia came in dead last in the National ranking of SAT scores. Alabama, Arkansas and Mississippi have let us down. Historically we could point to them as preparing their students for life less well than us. No more. We now have to seek out individual cities to find a favorable comparison.
I don't know the answer to this problem, and apparently neither do our educators.
For years as I represented the 9th. Senatorial district, the GEA came before the appropriations and asked for better salaries and suggested that if we paid better that they would teach better. We raised the salaries but it didn't happen, scores went down. {At $44,970 per year Georgia Teachers rank in the top for salaries. North Caroling and Florida are in the second rank. Alabama, South Carolina, Tennessee, and Kentucky are in the third rank. Arkansas and Mississippi are in the fourth rank. All pay less but their students performs better.}
They suggested that we should lower the number of years for retirement. We did. Scores went down.
They suggested that we should lower the Pupil Teacher relationship. We did scores went down.
They suggested that a problem was hungry children. We fed them breakfast and lunch. Scores did not improve.
We started bussing city students. Scores went down.
We built better facilities scores went down.
In a work session September 9, 2002, Mickey Key assistant Superintendent of Schools estimated the cost of air-conditioning all busses at a cost of $500,000. (All local funds) If or when this is implemented the students will be more comfortable, but will, this added comfort result is better performance?
Are low test scores empirical evidence of a lack of educational achievement? This is a philosophical argument. Some suggest that some students know more than test show that they know about subject matter. This is a cop out. Some do not test well, but that inability follows them through life and the same percentage is spread throughout the test areas..
How can we rate the performance of students? We test. We have the SAT test. We have the Georgia High School Graduating test, the ACT test, the CRCT test, etc. At one time we had the Iowa test in grades 4-8-11. Georgia track graduating Students in the number of hours passed and the grade point average by each High School in the State University System. These scores are a very comprehensive means of establishing the average learning level on a level playing field. (All tests are the same)
In these test Georgia is dead last, and Colquitt County is below the State average.
Academic apologists loudly proclaim that a higher percent of Georgia students take the SAT test. This is certainly a contributing factor, but Florida and NC. have the same basic percentage taking the test and score better. The fact is GA ranks 15th. In the high percentages of State students taking the test and ranks last among these states.
I certainly cannot admit that Georgia students are lest gifted than the nation. They are not.
I certainly will not suggest that our teachers are less qualified than the national average. They are not.
If the above definitive statements are true, then why does we fare so poorly.
I certainly do not know.
There are some academics who wish to have us believe that Blacks are the problem. They point to the Bell curve as proof that they cannot be educated as well as whites and Asians. Try that proof on Colin Powell and Condolesia Rice.
Thirty years ago Pelham city schools ranked higher than any school in the 9th. senatorial district on all criterions. This school was 60% black. (Norman Park ranked second.) I do not have current figures on Pelham now but The Center for Education Policy ranked Pelham as the 7th.highest ranked school in GA.. Colquitt County nor no county surrounding it was ranked in the 15 highest ranking schools.
What did Pelham have that we did not have? Thirty years ago they had M.D. Morrison who had absolute discipline. Children who couldn't or wouldn't learn were forced to be quite and let children who could learn, learn. Mr. Morrison was called Mad Dog Morrison to his back. You had better believe that it was not "IN HIS FACE"
He hired Herbert Houston away from Norman Park because he had observed that the Norman Park High School basketball team, coached by Houston, were the best disciplined of all the teams which Pelham played in class C ball.
Discipline worked for Pelham. It might work for Moultrie. (Last year a 16-year-old was kicked out of school for hitting a teacher who "Sassed him." Perhaps more should have been done than kick him out. We have reached the point that "Political Correctness" stands in the way of complete discipline. We have to accept chaos in the schools or demand discipline. We can't have both and lacking discipline we can't educate to the best of our teacher's ability to teach or our students ability to learn.
Thank God Colquitt is not completely last. Worth scores 987, Colquitt is second with 972, then Tift with 968, Cook 947, Brooks 943 and Mitchell 799.
Mitchell with the same ethnic black genetic pool as Pelham is last. Pelham is ranked 7th in the State.
When I was on the educational committee in the Senate, the highest ranked school in the state was in Columbus. In my study of this school, I found that a great proportion of the student body came from military families. The reason given for this high ranking was that the military family students were better prepared having come from other systems.
I suggested that they also came from two parent families. Very politically incorrect on my part and highly unacceptable as a reason for good performance.
We can't do much in the control of illegitimate children in one parent families but there should be a way to demand that they behave when they get to school.
Colquitt County does well in football.

I believe that it would be proper to take all vestiges of religion out of the public domain and relegate to the individual organized religions who have their civil places of worship, churches, synagogues, mosque, etc. However; if all is to be vestiges are to be stripped out, I mean, ALL.
A recent national poll found that 77% of all Americans felt that the Ten Commandments should have been allowed to remain in the Alabama courthouse. One unelected Federal Judge felt differently from the overwhelming majority.
So my opening statement without the disclaimer appear to put me on the side of the Federal Judge. Look at the disclaimer. I said, ALL.
If all religious symbols are to be removed, (Remember there is a verse from Isaiah chiseled in the marble of the New York Supreme Court building which would have to be removed.) then by the same token the religious symbols in State subsidized building should have to go. Most museums are state subsidized and these include the statue of "David" and replications of the statue. Is not David a symbol of Jewish and Christian religion? Surely the depiction of "The Lords Supper" should be objectionable and objected to by agnostics, atheists, and the ACLU. Should these too not have to go?
When we remove these, then we should also require those anti-religious symbols funded by the National Endowment of the Arts to go. Remove all and there would be very little art left.
Ordinarily, all this drivel would be protected under the general principle of freedom of expression if anti religious symbols are protected, then why not protect my freedom of expression whether it be in art, or religion.
I believe that thoughts, arts, and other religious symbols should be tolerated, but not, sanctioned by the government.
The art community claim that , "Art has power. It has the power to sustain, to heal, to humanize, to change something in you." Because art is so powerful, we dare not entangle it with coercive government power. The Art community means no censorship or regulation of art.
Religion too, has the power, "to sustain, to heal, to humanize, to change something in you." If the former is true for Art should not the latter be also true and acceptable for religion?.
Should we allow teachers in publicly funded schools to teach students that they should know of Zeus, a god who lives on a mountain in Greece, gave birth to a daughter from his head? We should and we do, but by the same token what damage is done to teach student that you should not steal, commit adultery, murder etc..Religion should be a matter of persuasion, not coercion.
We have a notion in this country that there should to be something called freedom of religion. (Not freedom from religion)
Lenin is quoted as saying "that religion is the opiate of the masses." Under Lenin Communism the Government attempted to stamp out religion. It didn't work, the people wanted their opiate.
Now here is the problem with the anti religion liberals. They do not hate religion, they hate the teachings of religion and they are hypocrites. Our liberal press derided Russia for an anti religion government and at the same time were trying through the ACLU to do what Lenin and his followers could not do.
The same liberal ACLU slanting press were highly critical of the Taliban who sponsored a Moslem religion when they tried to eliminate the Buddhist influence in Afghanistan. The Talaban did what the Federal Judge did in Alabama, they destroyed centuries old Buddhist art.
The same liberal ACLU slanted press is critical of China for it's persecution of religious Chinese. They would like for the Taliban government, the Chinese government, and the Russian government to allow the very thing which they rail against in the United States.
I believe that my Children and Grand Children should get their religious instruction from Bobbery and I under the teachings of Christ and practices of Buck Creek Church. I would not want the school system to teach the Moslem faith or any other faith to my children nor would I want to impose my faith on their children. By the same token, I do not wish for the secularist to teach my children promiscuous sex, homosexual sex, gay marriage and many other things on their agenda. If the ten commandments are to be removed from public view these other secular things which are anti religion should also be prohibited.
In a Democracy the majority rule prevails. In a Republic the majority elects a person who is to represent the majority view. They should be allowed to do so with out the restrictions of the mind set of one Anti God, unelected Federal Judge. One willing to move the ten commandments from public view, but seemingly willing to allow Zeus be taught, anti Christian principals be taught and anti religious art be funded.

for an illegal term and offered services for less and charged more.
Following are some thoughts.
1) It was neither advertised for bid nor was it bid. The rates at the
time would have been lower had all vendors had a chance at the business.
By not bidding they agreed to pay more than other competitive bidders
would have charged at that time.
2) It was for a three year period. The law says this about a three year
term of contract. ( (a) One council may not, by an ordinance, bind
itself or its successors so as to prevent free legislation in matters of
municipal government. (This Applies to County Governments also) This is
not the first instant in which this commission has entered into an
illegal agreement from the standpoint of a contract which would have the
effect of binding a subsequent commission. This contract had this
termination clause (Termination terms; If, prior to the termination of
then current term, service is terminated by customer, customer shall
upon demand by Company pay an interstate termination fee calculated as
the selected monthly usage commitment level times the number of months
remaining on the unexpired term.) This appears to be consistent with a
policy to lock favored vendors or employees into a favorable contract at
the expense of the county.) This is only one instant where influential
people have received unlawful contracts at the expense of the tax payer.
All county payment checks since that time have also been illegal. The
law requires signatures of the County Manger or the County Chairman. Are
these people too busy to sign a check or they not paid enough to demand
that they perform their duty. If they do not sign checks, they do not
know when bills are submitted which are not owed.
In this case Alltel agreed to sell time at $.089 per minute. The largest
number of calls were billed at. $.024 cents per minute. This is almost
three times the contract price.
The line cost was to have been less under Alltel. It was substantial
more. There was also $4,787.90 change over fee. The promised savings
were not realized. The first full month of service under Alltel was
$7520.96. The last full month of service from DOAS was $6691.41. Not
a savings but an increase of $829.55 when Alltel promised a savings.
THINGS TO CONSIDER
If Alltel had made a mistake and they were a responsible company, don't
you think that they would have acknowledged error and re-bill ?
If the Chairman or County Manager had the good of the taxpayer at heart,
don't you think that they should demanded adjustment?
If the county Attorney knew the law or had any interest in keeping the
Commission legal, should he have not stated that the contract was not
legal?
WHAT CAN BE DONE?
1) Take it to the Grand Jury. Are you kidding. It is said that the Grand
Jury can indite a ham sandwich. I have never know them to do so. I have
seen them indite innocent people. I have also seen them failing to
indite politically connected people stealing from the tax base. In this
case the Foreman of the Grand Jury is also the CEO of Alltel. How far do
you think a protest would go?
2) Sue Alltel. I looked into that. I was informed by an attorney that I
would be looking at a minimum of 8 years litigation. He said that local
courts would send it to Federal courts and that the Congress was
blocking Federal Judge appointments to the extent that there was no fast
track in these courts. When you add 8 years to my age of 73, it is clear
that this is not an alternative.
3) Have the county sue Alltel. With the attorney having passed on the
illegal contract?
4) Any commissioner could move to have an audit of the account and
withhold payment from Alltel until the overpayment was covered. This
also is not likely to happen it might only get three votes. It would,
however; point out the problem.
5) Leave it like it is and keep paying too much on this illegal contract
and go up on the taxes to cover the added cost.
7) Keep the though in mind to be used as a campaign issue to replace the
tax and spend members of the commission.
IN SUMMARY
Alltell is unlikely to contest these Charges that I make against them.
2) Alltel seems not to be concerned with doing the honest thing.
3) The commission does not seem inclined to call for a new bid.
4) The commission does not seem inclined to ask for restitution from
Alltel.
5) The Chairman does not seem inclined to take the effort to sign
checks.
6) The county attorney cannot be expected to give legal advice to the
commission.
7) Your taxes will continue to go up, the credit rating of the county
will go down, rich will get richer and the poorer will get poorer.

Off the Top of My Head
There are nine men running for the Democratic nomination for President
of the United States. In a recent Gallop pole 65% of Americans could not
name even one of them.
They have this in common. Another thing they have in common is that they
seek to become acceptable to the American public by criticizing the Bush
Administration in all respects and particularly the Iraq War.
They all seem to have a philosophy of "Being fer what ain't and agin
what is."
LET'S LOOK AT SOME INCONSISTENCIES.
They accuse the Bush administration for being unable to control the
riots following the organized resistance in Iraq. Most of the criticism
seemed to come from Democrats who had been influential in Cities which
could not control riots in American cities. Yet they faulted Bush for
riots in a subjected country.
They fault Bush for the loss of one American a day in the aftermath of
the war. No prewar planing, they shout in a chorus. What would they have
done? What example could they give when a Democratic administration had
subjected a foreign society and had no problems after the subjection?
One person a day is a lot if you are that one person or their family. In
the scheme of things it is minuscule. About 300 American soldiers have
sacrificed their lives in Iraq. Compare that to any Democratic war.
W.W.I under Wilson, W.W.II under Roosevelt, Korea under Truman, Viet.
Nam under Kennedy and Johnson.
If you compare the war in Iraq to any other war when a foreign nation
has caused a regime change, you will note that it is no easy task to
occupy a foreign nation.
When Hitler invaded Holland, for each German soldier killed on the
streets, the SS executed 10 randomly chosen Dutch. It was a policy of
collective responsibility. Ten Dutch deaths in reprisal for the death of
one German.
When General Reinhard Heydrich was assassinated in Czechoslovakia in
1942, 10,000 Czechs were put to death. The complete village of Lidice
was liquidated. Even this "Collective Responsibility", of the Germans
did not stop the Partisan resistant.
In Yugoslavia, Tito tied down a complete German division as a leader of
Yugoslav partisans.
The Russians invaded Afghanistan and were eventually forced out by
partisan resistant. Even after their own severe reprisals. Examples are
numerous. Citizens of one country do not like to be occupied by the
armed forces of a foreign country. Even though their regime is a SOB, it
is their SOB.
One person loss a day is too many but less than any other occupation of
any country by another foreign country.
In fact by comparison most large cities of the USA lose more citizens to
violence and lawlessness than one a day.
IT IS BETTER TO BE A LIVE JACKAL THAN A DEAD LION.
This expression has been around for generations. In the generation of
the 1960's its wording was changed to, "Better to be Red than Dead."
Regardless of the wording the concept has been universally adopted by
those of a cowardly nature.
The leading Democrat in the race has built his complete platform on
being against the war. From the left a spoken viewpoint is emerging,
"America is both evil and corrupt." Bush is an evil leader to be
compared to Hitler.
The Hippies in Wood stock in the 60's are now the antiwar advocates
shrilly condemning Bush for a war for oil for his rich Texas
contributors. (Remember Viet Mam. We were there for tungsten, tin and
Oil.
The Democratic Party Hacks are for appeasement. They faulted Reagan for
his use of the superior military might of the United States in bringing
down the Russian government. Eisenhower closed out the Korean war in
three years. You had better consider our "Nukes" he warned the North
Koreans. They took heed and a truce was established.
Republicans know what to do about national security. Democrats have no
clue.
WHAT INDEMNITY IS PAID TO AN AMERICAN SOLDIER, WHO LOSES HIS LIFE? It
was $10,000 at one time.
Compare this to those who lost their lives in the World Trader center.
In excess of $1,000,000 was paid to surviving families. Those American
Solders can justly be classified as war heroes. By no stretch of
imagination can those who, by virtue of chance, happened to die in the
World trade center be thought of as a hero. Sure there were many heroes
there, made so by their efforts to help other. Victims of this
circumstance are no more entitled to "Hero" status than a chance
pedestrian killed by a hit and run driver.
There is something bad out of kilter when we are so meager with tax
funds for true heroes and so lavish with tax funds for victims of
circumstance.
The above thoughts are at random and probably have very little redeeming
value but my deadline for this article was changed at the last minutes.
They are all random thoughts from memory and at 73 years old random
thoughts from failing memory may leave something to be desired<

Recently I have written relative to the contract between the County and Alltel. Remember Alltel came in and promised a lower rate than the County was getting from the State. The rate was in fact about three times above that which they were paying to the State for long distance charges.
The contract is for an illegal three year term and provisions are written in for the county to pay the remainder of the contract if they change servers.
It seems that this commission is bound and determined to lock in their friends to lucrative contracts. Telephone rates are coming down, so Alltel locked in for three years.
Today the Moultrie Observer reported that the Commission was going to use part of the surplus and to increase the tax on County residents about 5%. What do you expect when no one signs checks and any company if they are so inclined can send any statement and it will be paid?
I am up to $123.95 in document charges in this quest. This means that there are approximately 500 pages of information and 30,000 lines of information to reconcile. Until such time as I have made a definitive audit, I cannot tell the extent of the overcharge.
I will tell you the direction which I may be heading. If my fears are realized and the overcharge is as large as preliminary figures indicate, I will then consider taking a civil class action suit against Alltel for the abrogation of a contract. I will ask for substantial punitive damage.
One might consider a punitive damage claim exorbitant if applied for a mistake. I Agree, if it is a mistake, then it would be exorbitant. If the five people involved were to voluntarily submit to a polygraph test and the results of that test indicated that the overcharges were a result of accident or ignorance, then the suit for substantial punitive damages could be lowered.
I will keep you informed.
TERRORISM
Several months ago, I was discussing, with an electrical engineer, the vulnerability of the Electrical system of the United States to acts of Terrorism. The recent blackout of the North Eastern area of the United States and Southeastern Canada suggested that our fears could be realized.
At the present time we are in denial that this was triggered by forces unfriendly to the United States. This may be. I hope so. The fact remains that the three major grids are subject to tampering with the electronics which control the switching of power needs between areas.
Electronic tampering is complex and many safeguards are built into the systems to minimize such manipulation. No system is perfect and there may be those as smart in hacking as those working to preclude unauthorized access to the electronic switching of the grids.
There are three major generating facilities with the capacity to throw the entire United States into a black out. These are Hover, Boulder, and LeGrand in Northern Ontario. Each of these have transmission lines running through remote areas which are normally inaccessible to the general public. A few timed detonations of the towers of the transmission lines could cause major havoc. Situations caused by one day blackout, while an inconvenient, are not catastrophic. Longer periods will be.
In the one day blackout, the standby generators in Hospitals, Motels, Office buildings, etc. were able to keep necessary systems going. Longer periods present more of a problem. These standby generators run on diesel whose supply is limited to one or two days. Then tanks must be filled. From where? The pipe lines and fuel terminals are also dependent on electricity to move the product. Lacking a source of electricity to run pumps, there could be no dependable source.
Likewise stores are totally dependent on electricity to run cash registers. Filling stations cannot pump the product in their tanks. A week of interrupted service would bring the economy to a halt.
The press seemed to think that those people who were forced to do without air conditioning for 24 hours were heroes. Also they lavished praise on the citizens in the area because they did not take advantage of the confusion to steal. Such is life in the big cities.
The forests of the United States are also vulnerable. Our forest fire response system is limited to a few major fires. Hundreds of major Forrest fires would cause un estimable damage to the economy. If those middle eastern visitors residing in the United States were one day to decide to distribute cigarette lighters to the members of their Mosque and many were to go out and start fires, major havoc would result.
Some simple things can be done. Fire brakes can be developed. Trees can be thinned. Both solutions will be blocked by the Serria Club and others like the Greenies.
There is really no protection from a terrorist. There is not enough money in the world to make all systems save from these people. The only solution is to seek out and kill the terrorist wherever they may be found. This too, is a situation which would be opposed by the liberal ACLU syndrome.
If I were to make any suggestion, I would suggest that each individual home consider what resources are needed to survive for several weeks, and to store those supplies in accessible areas.
In the recent funk about the problems which were forecast those who felt that the change over from 1999 to 2000 (Y2K) would be disastrous, many bought generators, stored food and water, and had cans of fuel stored. They didn't need it then. They may just have a chance to use those commodities in the future.
Be like a Boy Scout, Be Prepared.

Letter sent to Congress and Congressperson Sheila Jackson Lee.

Dear Representative Lee;
I wish to commend you on your vigilance in seeking to correct all vestiges of racial discrimination. This is in reference to your suggestion that hurricanes be named after blacks. This is an idea whose time has come. First, I would like to indicate that I feel a special fondness to you simply as a result of your name. Your name honors two of our Confederate Heros, Stonewall Jackson and Robert E. Lee.
For years the names of hurricanes have been those of White Anglo Saxon Protestant. WASP. Now if your suggestion is followed we can expect to see names clearly associated with that of Black people. Willie or Leroy for men and Willie Pearl or Shelanger for women.
I feel that a note of caution should be considered. Suppose that the first black name was applied to a hurricane and God caused it to fizzled our and not bring about mass destruction and chaos. In this case the goal of diversity in naming would result in a pathetic little local windstorm carrying a black name into the annals of hurricane naming. Remember God is not always on the side of Blacks. In the flood that covered Albany Georgia God's Prophet the Very Reverend Jesse Jackson and his mistress came and addressed a rally of blacks where he pointed out that floods did not come to blacks and whites alike. He made the point that flood waters were deeper in black sections of Daugherty Country than in White sections of that same flood plane. He then took up a collection and went back to Chicago.
For your proposal to be fair and balanced (© Fox News) , provision should be made for the largest minority. Certainly the Hispanic community will not think that there is true diversity unless there is also Hispanic names such as Jose or Hose B. Then the Chinese will also ask for equality and demand that names such as One Hung Low be used. For true diversity our proposal (Yours and Mine) should include a list of ethnic names from all the hundreds of ethnic groups.
This message is being sent to all Representatives and Senators with a plea for their support for our proposal. To show solidarity , I would suggest that each congress person should smile faintly when they meet you in the hall such smile to be taken as a talisman of support.

A LITTLE TELEPHONE HISTORY
When I was a State Senator, telephone service was purchased in the State of Ga. just as individuals purchased it. Each local government agency went to their local telephone office and subscribed to their local service and long distance.
This resulted in extensive cost and mass confusion in Atlanta dialing local agencies. A Mr. Roberts of the Department of Administrative Service brought to me a request to help budget funds to change over to a state agency to consolidate all telephone services in the State. That is all services would be purchased at State level and all long distance cost would be at the rate obtained by mass purchases of blocks of time.
I was able to get these funds in the budget and the Department of Administrative Services (DOAS). was able to move into the consolidation of purchases for the complete state. This also resulted in a State Wide Telephone book which listed the number of each State employee and each State agency.
I was able to secure passage of this legislation which was lobbied against by the communications companies. I simply promised to give each State Senator and each State representative a free long-distance service for State Business only.
I was not so simple as to believe that these politicians would not also use it for private business. Some did. Never-the-less the State saved $3,500,000.00 on their first full year of this service as compared to those charges of fragmented services before.
When I was elected as Chairman of the Colquitt County Commission, realizing that I might use the fact that the state got .25% of the tax collections of Colquitt County at the State level and I might also bring Colquitt County into this purchasing arrangement.
I submitted a proposal to the Commission in August which suggested that we could go with the State Agency (DOAS) and pay a monthly line fee of $22.99 compared to the Alltel fee of $45.00. This resulted in a savings of $23.41 each month on each line or a yearly projected savings of $17,234.00 on service alone. We were paying $.23 per minute of time, but our new rate would be approximately $.125 per minute or a projection savings of $.105 per minute of usage.
The commission voted to make this change. Commissioner Key said that he had talked to Mr. Earnie Vannett of the telephone company who said that they could do better.
This business was not bid. Prior to the communications act of 1996, other than DOAS Local companies were the only ones franchised to provide service. In any event I was only seeking a lower cost and I delayed the transfer and wrote a letter to Mr. Vannett and offered to place him on the next agenda to give Alltel's's proposal. (I suggested at that this was only a vapor proposal which would fade away as a political mirage,) I was right Mr. Vannett did not appear.
We adopted to go with the State run agency. We did realize that savings.
The Federal telecommunications Act of 1996 changed the law and did away with the franchise monology of local companies for long distance service. Now any communications Co. could offer local services and Alltel had to provide lines (at a fee) to anyone seeking to sell long distance service.
I also hold a license from the Public Service Commission to operate pay phones and as a result I receive monthly industry magazines. I was struck by an article in one of these magazines which was labeled SPIFF WARS.
A spiff is a commission paid to a telecommunications agent to sell a transfer from one company to another.
One line of this article caught my attention "PRI circuit which cost a business $1000.00 per month can result in a one-time up front payment of $1000.00 on a three-year term $5000.00) In another paragraph describing the SPIFF payments there was another sentence which caught my attention, "It's not inconceivable that the agent, was in a position to kick back to the customer a sizable percentage of the up-front SPIFF----.)
I had noted that in 2001, the county had gone back to Alltel. I though at that time that Alltel had taken advantage of the new lower rates realized as a result of the telecommunications act of 1996 and lowered the rates to get the county business back.
I felt that it might be important to check out how much savings that we were realizing.
On August 3, I asked for several documents. One of which was a copy of the last full month of DOAS billing and the first full month of Alltel Billing. This was an eyeopener. On 1/31/01 we paid DOAS $6,691.41 on 5/15/01 we paid Alltel $7,385.34. This suggested that there was not a savings but an increase.
In my inquiry to the commission I asked for the name of the communications agent. The clerk reported that it was a MS. Glenda Bridges.
I wondered how the commission could go into a three year contract at a greater cost. They were snookered.
Alltel presented a proposal showing the projected minute cost to be $.085/min outside the state and $.089.min inside the state. This proposal projected a $3,900.00 yearly savings not a yearly overcharge. (This is the one of the instruments that the commission viewed to vote the change.)
When I looked at the billing, I found that most of the long distance was being routed to Bell South at $.24/min (In one minute increments) When you look at the minute cost on the Alltel charges you see that each minute cost $.09/min. (Apparently their software rounds up. If this is the case then there is no way to bill one minute at $.089.)
An analysis of line cost seems to be more out of proportion. (I don't have enough records at this time to confirm this over my signature.)
In any event I have paid $92.70 copy cost. (Not a complaint I paid the State suggested cost.) I still need more copies to make this claim.
You ask, How could a company come in and promise one thing and charge another. It is very simple neither the Chairman nor the Administrators have signed a check since I left office. (All facsimiles) If some ne does not checks and check bills, they had no way of knowing what vendors are charging. This may only be the tip of the iceberg.
In any event there is still much more to follow, in the weeks to come.
Any person wishing to look through the documents are invited to do so and they also may make copies. You can expect Rant and Rave to be particular vitriolic toward me during the next week. Not saying that I am wrong, they just don't do that when I hold evidence, Just personal attacks. Hit dogs seem to holler you know.

$435.00 Hammers, $640.00 Toilet Seats, $7,600.00 Coffee Makers and $241.64 for a Chrome Plated Shovel

What does the above have in common? They were all paid for with tax funds extracted from the working public.
I understand that there were19 shovels purchased for the ground breaking of the new government building. The average cost of each shovel was a paltry $40.70 each (This was for 18 shovels, powder coating and name plates) These shovels were powder coated to make them more photogenic . The ground breaking was covered by the local press and the use of the shovels was pictured on the front page of the Moultrie, Observer. I personally was not able to conclude that the specialized paint or chrome plating made the shovels more photogenic. But wait, there is still more. One of the 19 shovels was chrome plated for a total cost of $241.64. (This was the Hoitoi Toitoi model.)
I do not know the final disposition of the shovels. I am relatively certain that they did not show considerable wear. It was intimated that they were given to the individual commissioners. The County buys shovels by the dozen. (Many of which are offered for sale to passing motorist by the prisoners.) Be that as it may, can you imagine the good will toward the system created by a prisoner shoveling mud with a $241.64 shovel. It seems to me that it would build his esteem. It would be an honor which he should appreciate, snob value, you know. The selected one could Lord it over the other prisoners with an irrefutable brag, The shovel which the county furnishes me cost $241.64, yours only cast a paltry $40.70. O well, so much for that. It is only tax money, which if left in the pockets of the ones who earned' it would in all probability been capriciously spent on such luxuries as drugs, food, clothing or rent. People have a tendency to be reckless with any money left over from their earnings after taxes.
Mr. O"Neal has made some serious charges relative to the misuse of sales tax funds collected in excess of the cost of programs advertised in the resolution voted on to ratify the Sales Tax. I am familiar with these laws. I will not repeat Mr. O'Neal charges only to the extent that I believe him to be correct.
Another item in the present controversy is Mr. O'Neal's statement that he was charged $22.00 per hour for the work in preparing copies obtained under the open records law. This is very alarming. This type overcharge is systemic to those bureaucrats who resent the taxpayer having knowledge of their actions. It is also Illegal.
The law gives the first fifteen minutes of a records search free. After that the law specifies that the hourly charge shall not exceed that of the lowest paid full time employee, who in the discretion of the custodian of the records has the necessary skill and training to perform the request. If the administrator did the work , made the copies, and charged his salary it is arrogant to have done so. Any clerk could have done so at much less cost. If, however, a clerk did the work and he charged his rate of pay, this would seem to be a corrupt action.
The County Attorney needs to look at 50-18-71 (c) (d). OCGA.
Most cases of egregious and conspicuous cases when the bureaucrat ignores the laws in such deplorable manner is because that they (themselves) feel that they are subject to desire and expediency only, to hell with the law. Sometimes law becomes burdensome and restrictive to the desired actions or results expected by the bureaucrat, never-the-less, it is the law. In most cases where the law is knowingly broken, the statute violated is enacted and promulgated for specific reasons. These reasons should not be ignored. Ignorance of the law is no defense but a common plea. This is why the citizen taxes are expended to hire a County Attorney. He is paid, and it is his job to keep the business of the county legal.
The high cost of some items cannot be tolerated. Ignorance of the cost and value of purchased items is no defense. The laws of our state have many sections specifying rules and procedures of purchase to result in the lowest possible cost.
Perhaps the Administrator and the Chairman would like to claim that their departments did not vet the prices and they did not know of these exorbitant costs until a citizen pointed them out. The law requires that either the signature of either Chairman or the Administrator be on all checks. Sources in the system tell me that there has not been a check signed by either in this administration. The law does not say facsimile. It says the signature. If my sources are telling me correctly that all county payments are made without the signature of either, then this is not only illogical but downright irresponsible. If you do not sign the checks, how can you be expected to know for what, to whom, and how much tax money is spent for each bill. I know of no business who would vest it's resources in such an irresponsible manner. Do you? Would You?
Any way , we seem to have gotten one bargain. The U.S. Government paid $7,600.00 for a coffee maker. Ours only cost a mere $257.60. The feds said that their coffee pot was constructed to survive an airplane crash. One would hope that the local coffee pot is designed to withstand a political crash. Merle Halls first run for office was a campaign against the county furnishing free coffee. So what's new?

If each Commissioner had a shovel, this calculates to about $135.00 per shovel. The law gives the first fifteen minutes of search free. After that the law specifies that the hourly charge shall not exceed the lowest paid full time employee, who in the discretion of the custodian of the records has the necessary skill and training to perform the request.

The County Attorney needs to look at 50-18-71 (c) (d). OCGA.

Most cases of egregious and conspicuous cases when the bureaucrat ignores the laws in such deplorable manner results in considering that they (themselves) are only subject to desire and expedience, to hell with the law.

Sometimes the law becomes burdensome and restrictive to the desired actions or results, never-the-less, it is the law. In most cases the statute is enacted and promulgated for specific reasons. These reasons should not be ignored.
Ignorance of the law is no defense but a common plea. This is why the citizen taxes are expended to hire an Attorney. He is paid, and it is his job to keep the business of the county legal.

Ignorance of the cost is also no defense. The laws of our state have many sections specifying rules and procedures of purchase to result in the lowest possible cost.

Perhaps the Administrator and the Chairman would like to claim that their departments did not vet the prices and they did not know of these exorbitant costs until a citizen pointed them out.

The law requires that either the signature of either Chairman or the Administrator be on all checks. Sources in the system tell me that there has not been a check signed by either in this administration. The law does not say facsimile. It says the signature. If my sources are telling me correctly that all county payments are made without the signature of either, then this is not only illogical but downright irresponsible. If you do not sign the checks, how can you be expected to know for what, to whom, and how much tax money is spent for each bill.

I no of no business who would entrust it's resources in such an irresponsible manner. Do you? Would You?

Any way , we seem to have gotten one bargain. The U.S. Government paid $7,600.00 for a coffee maker. Ours only cost $257.60. The feds said that their coffee pot was constructed to survive an airplane crash. One would hope that the local coffee pot is designed to withstand a political crash.

So what's new?

If I have used any incorrect figures, or if I have misinterpreted the law, if some one will point this out to me, this error will be corrected next week.

HERE COME THE TRIAL LAWYERS

Recently O'Reilly interviewed a Woman neuoscientist reporting on her studies on Fat foods. She concluded that they are addictive. She did not say, O'Reilly did not ask, and the question was left hanging. Who funded your research? I would suspect that some advocacy group funded by the Trial Lawyers' association provided the funding.

I already knew of class action law suits targeting the public through the "Fast Food Chains" being brought on behalf of Fat Slobs who claimed that their lack of self control was not the reason for their corpulent obese overweight condition. Their gluttony resulting in an unhealthy condition was brought on by, "The ole Devil made me do it."excuse. In this case it is the fast food chains who should be made to pay for their over indulgence of food.

Dr. Ann Kelly from the Univ. of Wisconsin Medical School studied the behavior of Rats after they were fed fat, sweet, or salty food. She said that this diet stimulated the Rats' brain with a synthetic version of natural ovoid enkephalin. This caused the rat to eat up to six times their norman intake.

I ran an Internet search with the term "fat foods addictive," guess what? There have already been more than 200,000 articles on this subject.

A Dr. Mercola claims that Hamburgers and French Fries could be as addictive as heroin.

In 1991 Clinton Attorney General made the claim, "Public Health Costs resulting from overeating are reaching $117 Billion per year." (Earlier claims were that smoking related costs run up to $140 billion per year)

John Banzhaf a George Washington University Law professor is the one who started the ball rolling on the Tobacco Suites. He recently delivered letters to the fast food chains demanding that they post warning notices in their restaurants saying that their foods are addictive. He said that this was a first step toward a law suit. (Remember the warnings on cigarette packs?)

Trial lawyers seeing the billions to be made from successful suits are salivating at the thought on another "Tobacco Settlement type suit," where some individuals made in excess of a Billion dollars.

The Trial Lawyers had already started several unsuccessful suits against McDonalds. What they lacked was the "addictive" factor. (Studies also claimed that Coco-Cola was addictive.)

For years people claimed that they did not know that smoking would kill you. Apparently they forget the "whippings" administered to children caught smoking, or perhaps they for the Hank Williams song. (Smoke, Smoke, that cigarette)
The truth is that people made a choice to smoke just as they make a choice to eat foods which bring pleasure to themselves.

Smoking might indeed have become addictive, but there can be no argument made that one who had never smoked started the habit as a result of addiction.

Here is how this is going to come down.

The trial lawyers may have had a part in the studies showing that fat and sweet foods were addictive, if not it is the final tool needed for their suits.

Next they will have one of their Congressional Minions to clamor for public hearings on "Food Addiction." They will bring in the TV Cameras and summons Fast Food Chain CEOs to appear. They will demonize them for using ingredients in their foods which made them more acceptable to their customers. They will claim that the Fast Food Companies were not interested in the health of their customers, only in making obscene profits at the expense of their customers.
The suits will point out that these companies spent Billions in advertising to get young people addicted.
It is no news to anyone that foods which are palatable will be selected over those which we do not like. People given a choice people will always eat those things which they like. They have a choice to overeat and become fat or eat in moderation and remain slim. It is their choice.

The Trial Lawyers are looking for someone to shift the blame to. In this case it is the fast food chains and soft drink companies. Wouldn't it be nice if someway we could force these lawyers to eat foods without, sugar, salt, and fats? They profit by manipulating our legal system. The $246 Billion tobacco settlement will pale to the amounts which they think that they can extract form the fast food chains and soft drink companies.

State governments will make cost sharing deals with these lawyers just as they did in the tobacco sits. Remember that these companies are operating legally under the laws of the nation and it's states.

John Edwards received $3.2 million dollars from the trial lawyers in his bid for a senate seat in 1998. He has already collected $4.5 million in his bid for the president.

It is a known fact that most of these funds go to Democrat elections and to already elected committee chairman.
The consumer will ultimately pay.

Franklin Sutton X-Chairman's Corner Week of July 7- They all blame Bush

They blame Bush because his administration can't seem to catch Osuma Bin Laden. Yet their Hero Bill chased him for a longer period and when Sudan offered him up he rejected the offer.

They Blame Bush because his administration can't seem to find Saddam who has the protection of his followers in a foreign country, yet the Clinton administration could not find the FBI number 1 most wanted Michael James Scaritti in the United States. (Some times a person who does not want to be found makes themselves difficult to find.)

They blame Bush for invading Iraq for the wrong reason. After all Saddam starved his own people, used weapons of mass destruction against his neighboring country and his own people, locked up children who refused to adhere to his religion, killed his enemies, stole from the people, murdered his son-in-laws, produced weapons of mass destruction, and made love to his mistress while watching film oft the torture of his opponents and personally killed one of his ministers because the minister's wife called and wanted to know when he would be home for supper. Other than that he was a nice fellow.

They say that there was no weapons of mass destruction and cite for evidence that they can't see them. They can claim that air does not exist on the same evidence.

WHO IS "THEY"?

They are the National Democrats running for different offices and their minions who call themselves Democrat Strategist.
It does not seem to matter that the stated intent in the last so called message from Saddam suggest that the US will lose it's resolve and with draw from Iraq, if American soldiers are killed. If these Democratic critics are successful in turning the American public against the Iraq war and force a withdrawal (for political gain), is this not aiding and abetting the enemy? Is this not the definition of treason?

The main and most effective charge against Bush now is that our troops cannot stop the ambush killing of individual soldiers. Remember our soldiers are in a foreign country of 22,675,750 people fighting followers of Saddam.

LETS SEE WHAT DEMOCRAT LEADERS DO IN THEIR AREAS OF JURISDICTION. (Last reporting full year)

Following is a list of Democratic controlled states and the number of killings of civilians that is recorded against them. Note that all have more of their citizens and police killed than the number of soldiers killed in Iraq.

Democratic Governed States and their number of homicides.

New Jersey, Governor James McGreevy, 229-- Missouri, Governor Bob Holden 347,-- Arizona , Governor Janet Napolito 359-- Pennsylvania, Governor Ed Rendell, 502--Michigan, Governor Jennifer Graholm, 669-- Illinois, Governor Rod Blashorevich 889-- and Califronia Governor Gray Davis 2079. Each of these States have more homicides than were experienced by our troops in Iraq to date.

Looking at Democrat cities and comparing their homicide rates, to Iraq, we would have to loose 7845 soldiers to compare to Detroit, 3927 to equal Chicago, 3718 to match Los Angeles, 1395 to parallel New York city, and 1530 to equalize the number killed in Philadelphia. (Not to mention Albany and Atlanta,)

In Los Angles police cannot put down the Crips and Bloods in their city how can the Democrat Party cast blame on our American Army and it's Commander and Chief.

I do not have the total numbers of civilians and troops killed in Iraq to date, but I do not believe that Iraq is as dangerous as major Americans cities. When the number of civilians and soldiers killed pass 7845, then one might say that a soldier or civilian in Iraq is in more danger than a policeman or citizen in Detroit.

The Democrat strategist are now saying that we have the highest unemployment rate in the last six years. This is true.
Another way of saying it is that the United States unemployment continues to follow the world's rise in unemployment and is now approaching the Clinton years where the rates reached 7.4 percent. This is also true.

We have lost an estimated 800,000 net jobs as a result of Nafta a program of Democrat President Clinton.

We had eight years of uncontrolled legal immigration under the Clinton administration, all seeking jobs at the expense of American Workers. What did the Democrats think would result from these two major items of Job loss? They now rush to demonize Bush for problems resulting from their policies.

We also experienced the 911 attacks which is said to have done away with more jobs than any single event in the history of our country.

Some politicians seem to put keeping their party in the majority is more important than the protection of the American Public.

Out of space not out of argument.

Colqitt Commission Illegal Contract- Franklin Sutton- X-Chairman's Corner- 03/06/26

Say it ain't so Merle. Recently the Moultrie observer reported that the
County Commission had granted a contract to the Administrator to extend
his tenure beyond this present commission.

It had always been my thought that one commission could not bind a
succeeding commission.

If my impression is legally correct then the board has entered into an
illegal act. Why?

Let us inquire as a reason for such a statute. In times past boards had
been defeated at the polls and in a spirit of spite had passed such
legislation as to embarrass the succeeding board. I thought that such
actions had been made illegal.

If in fact such action is illegal, then why would our commissioners
enter into an illegal act?

If it in fact illegal, is it enforceable. Some say not some, say that
illegal acts can be enforced under the constitutional clause that
congress (Government) shall not abridge a contract.)

If it is enforceable then this commission could be voted out during the
next two elections but the new board would have its hands legally tied
and be compelled to work with an administrator who might not be
acceptable to that new board. In this case, they would have to continue
with that administrator or to buy out his contract. Neither would be a
suitable option.

The suggestion was made that the extended contract would allow the
present county administrator to move to Colquitt County and purchase a
home. This suggestion implies that the move which I think is illegal is
in their opinion, enforceable.

Does this board consider itself so knowledgeable that some other board
member may not be adequate to do the job for which he/she were elected
for?

This makes no sense what-so-ever. In any event the transgression is not
nearly so important to some yet unknown and unelected board member as it
is to the taxpaying voter.

The decision of the sitting board has guaranteed that the present
administrator will guide the County regardless as to their wishes. I.e.,
if this board who sits the policy, sits it in such manner that the
general public reacts is such a way as to cause their ouster, the newly
elected members have their hands tied. They then find it difficult to
change the one who administered the unpopular policies.

This board should not have such little regard to the wishes of the
electorate as to pass legislation intended to bind the future board.
These observations should be in no way be construed as to connote
opposition to the present administrator. These observations are only to
indicate that it is bad policy to insulate a succeeding board from the
capability of exercising the prerogatives of the office to which they
were elected by the voters.

Generally speaking laws passed by the legislature have reasons for their
enactment. In any event, they are law and should not be evaded by those
to whom they apply. If such laws are untenable they should be struck
down by judicial procedures or legislative action.

If such a practice is in fact legal would you support the present board
if they decided to grant a 20 year contract?

Regardless of the outcome the newly elected board will be in a
compromised position. If they elect not to continue the present
administrator contract, he might elect to force the issue by court
action causing unjust expense to the county. Another scenario would be
to cause division of the new commission. This action should not have
been taken.

Franklin Sutton Week of June 19,2003 Southern Valley Farms

Southern Valley and Hamilton Farms in Mexico.

As usual when I e-mail my column it does not show graphics because of the remote possibility of transmitting a virus. I myself do not open attachment. To day this article needs illustration so I am send the pictures as attachments. I have run these files through Norton's. I am sending several pictures of that area.

Last week, I mentioned the farming operation being developed in the Southern Part of the State of Yucatan in Old Mexico. This article is to supplement that article.

The primary purpose of the location in Mexico is to gain an extension of the growing season. As all Colquitt County farmers know, we can grow two crops of most vegetables here in Colquitt County, but there are time frames when we cannot transplant and have a reasonable expectation of successful producing a crop. This is one of the reasons for Mexican farming.

Larry Booth also has grown a crop in Old Mexico and has successfully bought Limes and resold them on the American market.

Both Larry and Kent expect to gain from the growth of their business, but the largest gain will ensue to the Mexican laborers and also to the Mexican economy.

The United States farmer and American Agriculture is envied by most of the rest of the world. No society has developed an agricultural economy who could produce food and fiber to the extent of that performed by the Americans.
I mentioned last week the GPS controlled tractors. They also communicate with the Cool Springs office direct with a satellite radio. The office can talk to Mexico on the radio as quickly as they can talk to those in the Cook County fields or anywhere else for that matter.

The first direct benefit will occur to the Mexican labor In the Southern Valley operation. Already the neighbors are allowed to take drinking water from the deep wells off the farm. This is of immense importance to a society which does not have adequate water for household use and have none at all that is not polluted.

Kent is building housing for his labor which was designed by those who expect to live in them. At present in this area most of the people live in grass shacks with thatched roofs on ground floors with no cooking or refrigeration facilities nor bath rooms.

The farm is now constructing dormitories with cement floors, baths, block walls but the locals wanted the thatched rood. They say that these roofs are cooler. They are getting what they want. For the most of them this will be the first experience in living in a house with a bath, running water, refrigeration and stoves.

This is not required by the Government. They make no requirements relative to the care of the laborers. Kent is doing this because of Christian kindness and a deep belief in treating those who labor for him with compassion.

Below is pictures of the present facilities. Note they sleep in hammocks, cook on open flame and have no walls or floor.


X-Chariman's Corner Week of 03-06-11 Southern Valley Mexico operation

There are three graphics which do not transfer as a text file. 1)the land while it was still jungle, 2)the land after it was cleared, )3 the thousand acre field being leveled.

Last week I did an article on my trip to Mexico to have my teeth worked on. I spent about 18 days down there but all of it was not in a dentist chair. I visited a good many sites of former cultures and the ruins which survived them. This article is not a travel article. If you wish to find out about the ancient cultures go to a travel bureau.

SOUTHERN VALLEY- KENT HAMILTON AND ASSOCIATES.

The Southern Valley and Hamilton Farms operation headed by Kent Hamilton has now gone international.
Most of you are aware of the vegetable growing and shipping operation at Cool Springs, Colquitt County. This operation employs about 450 people making it one of the largest employers in Colquitt and the largest one owned by a Colquitt county family.

They are now in the process of developing a farm in Yucatan State, Mexico. While I was not in the dentist chair, I visited that operation. It is located in the farthermost south part of Yucatan State. It is not far from the jungles of Quitana Roo. This land being developed carries a designation of jungle. This is not my perception of a jungle. I thought a jungle had to have snakes, monkeys, lots of water and to be inhabited by Tarzan and Jane. Not so. This jungle is flat, level, well drained and dry. (Now at Least)

Inserted are before and after pictures of the land that Kent is developing.

If you can imagine a 1000 acre foot ball field that image is what you will see.

They are picking up all the rocks which are mostly small. The local Mexicans do not pick up rocks unless they need them to build a fence. In any event the rocks had to go.

The process now is the land leveling. This is being accomplished by a GPS-CONTROLLED tractor. It fixes onto 10 satellites at one time. The electronics controls direction, leveling and mapping.

The final preparation will be placing the plastic. This will be the first plastic farming in that area.

There are six 14-inch gravel pack deep wells to supply water. They have allowed locals to bring their cisterns to one of the pumps to be filled for home use. This is a neighborly gesture which is bound to cause a lot of good will on the part of the locals.

The initial plans are to employ 300 local workers. This will make them the largest employer in Southern Yucatan.

Planting is to be from December to May which is a date designed to hit the markets here when seasons prohibit the sales at that time. This area is a 12-month growing area.

Packaging will be performed on the farm and shipped in insulated coolers from the farm to Progreso, Mexico to docks in Beinville, Mississippi for U. S. distribution.

Next week I will discuss development plans.

There is a Mexican Government program which is referred as Political Risk insurance. In cases of some sort of failures the Mexican Government will pay off debts incurred and reimbursement investments under certain conditions.

The Government is paving about 20 miles of roads to get into the farm.

When I road up Steve and Ed asked me, what I thought of the location. My reply was I thought it was a really good place for a still.

They Finally Caught Eric Rudolph

You remember he is the person who is thought to have bombed the Olympic games, a lesbian center, and abortionist doctor. They had hunted for him for more than five years. I was sorta pulling for him in a way. I cannot condone terrorism in any manner but I can't get terribly upset about someone killing an abortion doctor who makes big bucks killing babies. I know that there is no legal equivalency. It is perfectly legal to kill a baby for profit, you know this Roe V. Wade thing which is one of the cornerstones of the National Democrats. It is not legal in any sense to kill the same doctor.
Rudolph, if guilty, killed others besides an abortion doctor. It is never good to take the law into your own hands regardless of the provocation of the wrongness of those things you are trying to correct.

It should be legally murder to murder a child for profit or any other reason.

Remember the man in California who killed the puppies by bashing their head against a pole. Got hard time, he did. Yet an abortion doctor can kill a baby in essentially the same way in a partial birth abortion and be rewarded by being paid a high fee.

Bill O'REILEY has stated on National Television that Rudolph did these deeds for which he has not been convicted of. This too is wrong. Remember, the O'Reillies of the press convicted Richard Jewell for one of the deeds which O'REILEY now says that Rudolph did.

In any event Rudolph gave them a very good chase. For about two years the Clinton administration hunted him and for about three years the Bush administration hunted him. Neither caught him in an area any larger than South West Ga.
The above prefaces my assertion that the Democrats are faulting Bush because he has not been able to catch Osuma Bin Laden running loose on the Asian Continent. If the National Democrats think that it is the job of the President to catch people why do the not fault Clinton for his failure to catch Rudolph?

Speaking of National Democrats, there seem to be the bright, corrupt, lying ideologues who are called party activists and the dim wits who believe all their charges.

In the recent war, these activists claimed that we would become bogged down and have hundreds of thousands of body bags being shipped home. They were wrong.

They are now claiming that Bush has created a situation by which we will have to deploy troops for a long period of time.
This charge has not had time to materialize but for the sake of comparison, lets suppose that such may happen and then do a comparison.

In the forties under Democrat Roosevelt we fought a war with Germany, we still have troops in Germany.

At the same time we fought a war in the Pacific. We still have troops in Okinawa.

Later under Democrat President Truman, we fought a war in Korea. We still have troops there.

Later in a war started by Democrat Kennedy and continued by Democrat Johnson we fought a loosing war in Viet NAM.

The war was concluded by Republican Nixon. No troops there now.
Republican Regan went to war in Grenada. No troops there.
Republican Regan went to war in Panama. No troops there.

Democrat Clinton sent troops to Haiti promised that they would be out in one year. Still there.
Democrat Clinton sent troops to the Balkans. Troops still there.
Republican Bush I sent troops to Iraq. Won the war and brought the troops home.
Republican Buss II sent troops to Afghanistan. Troops still there.
Republican Bush II won a war in Iraq. Troops still there.

They should be. If he pulled them out now, I would criticize him, however; the time frame is too short to charge him with a bogged down operation in either Afghanistan or Iraq.

The next time you hear a Democrat Party hack, complain about Bush having our troops bogged down, ask them about our forces in Germany, Okinawa, Korea, Haiti etc.

X-Chairman's Corner by Franklin Sutton Week of 03-05-27

I am back after having traveled 6429 miles in 18 days to have a tooth fixed.

I figured that the above would need some amplification. Several months ago, I made an appointment to have a tooth filled. Before the appointed time that tooth broke off, another split, and the cap came off another.

My Dentist took a glance and a serious look came upon his face. My friend, he said you are facing some major dental work. I figure that, I replied, just tell me what it is going to cost.

Well, the best case scenario would be an inside cost of a mere $3416.00 and an outside cost of approximately $4426.00. Following a long silence, I was able to reply, I don't think that I have this budgeted. I knew from past experience that in my case if I were buying the outside cost would be the $4426.00 figure, I would have to be selling to realize the inside cost. That much for Dental work definitely was not in the budget for this year.

I voiced my concern to my mentor Coo Coo Harry in the following manner. Coo Coo,, what's going on, I have never had dental problems in my whole life. Now I am experiencing financial problems brought on by dental problems. What's going on, I asked?

Remember Oliver Wendell Holme's poem, The Deacon's wonderful One horse sleigh, built to last a hundred years and a day. The deacon built the shay with great care to last one hundred years to the day. The shay gave good service for one hundred years then, at one hundred years to the day, it crumbled to dust. Well according to the bible God constructed you to last 3 score and 10 years. You reached that point on April 23, 2000. You are now falling apart like the Deacon's sleigh.

I didn't come to you for scripture, I came to you for advice, I said. Well you can do two things, you can have them all pulled and end up eating apple sauce and baby sitting grand children or you can go to your main cousin Larry Booth. What can Larry do? I asked, you know he ain't no Dentist. Yes replied Coo Coo, I know that but he has advise in ample quantities and he goes to a dentist in Mexico.

My main cousin, Larry who is always in a "helluva hurry," took a little time and replied, Coo, Coo is right. I go to Dr. Javier Camara Patron in Merida, Mexico. He is not only a "helluva fine fellow but a good Dentist also" and the cost will be approximately 1/8 th. that of a local dentist. He is a member of the American Dental Association and the World Federation of Orthodontists. He got his training in Iowa and Houston and practiced in Houston two years.
As previously mentioned, Larry has advice in ample quantities on all maters. The problem is separating the good advice from the bad. No one has developed a formula for that.

Ain't that a long way to go to get a tooth fixed, I asked. It's not so bad. You can drive to Tampa and catch the ferry to Progesso, Mexico which is only 15 miles from Merida. Or you can catch a tourist flight from Atlanta to Cancun and catch a bus from Cancun to Merida. That is what I do. In any event the cost is small compared to major dental work here.

Well. It didn't work out that way. The ferry quit running May 20 and moved to Nova Scotia for the summer trade and they wouldn't let me on the plane with my pocket knife. No way am I going to Mexico without my knife.

I dilly dallied around and missed the ferry and had to drive all the way. It took 18 days, 6429 miles, a box of soda crackers, one half case of sardines, several cans of pork and beans, and a batch of moon pies. But I got there and back. I left here with $1650.00 and came back with $6000.00 Pesos. (About $600.00) Credit card charges for fuel and motels were another $1500.00. My total cost was probably about $2500.00 and this included work on eight other teeth not in the original estimate.

Larry gave good advice. Doctor Patron is not only a "Helluva fine fellow, but a Damn good Dentist." The cost of the dental work which compared to the $4426.00 estimation was $834.00. That also included cleaning, fluoride treatment, and tooth build up on eight other teeth.

This Saga does not end there on the way home, I pulled out a crown which had been put in by an Atlanta Dentist and re glued two times. The next trip, I sure am not going to miss that Ferry.

This almost concluded my intention to visit all Mexican States. Now, I only lack Bahia and Senora states to visit before I can say that I have been in every state in Mexico, all the continental United States, all the Canadian Provinces and all the Canadian territories. Most of this travel has been on Motorcycle, but Bobbery says that I am getting a little old for that kind of stuff.

Coo Coo was right about one thing. God designed me to last 70 years. I seem to be falling apart. My old friend Josh Wilks once said, "being old ain't for a sissy."

My eyes are about gone. I have to buy a pair of glasses from the dollar tree to read the Moultrie Observer. (Some say that this is not a good investment.) My hearing is bad, I cannot hear Bobbery when she demands that I take out the trash. I have arthritis so bad that If I squat down, I have to climb up a hoe handle to get back up. Other problems associated with age are best not mentioned in this family reading column.

My Friend said that his wife loved and appreciated him so much that one day he stayed home sick and when the mailman came she run to the door shouting, My Husband is home, My husband is home.

They're at it again. The County Commissioners that is. They are passing regulations which discriminate against some mobile homes. I must admit up front that all I know about this issue is what I read in the paper. I also will admit that a constant reading of newspapers will make you ignorant. Also, I have not researched this issue well. Also, some writers have their lazy days and simply rewrite articles.
According to the Local Paper, any mobile home more than 10 years old is to be outlawed. Earlier the commissioners had decreed that a mobile home had to be on five acres and had to have a 210-foot road frontage.

I have refrained from criticism of the commission because I once was a county commissioner and I felt that a past commissioner should not impede the efforts of the present commissioner. The majority of Colquitt County people did not like the way which I run the county and retired me. This led me into a pretty good line in my public appearances. I quit politics because of sickness and fatigue. The voters got sick and tired of me.

Someone in Rant and Rave said that the commission had found a book and pulled the ordinance out of the book. You have to assume that the commissioner had to be able to read to believe that. I have seen such books in my time and had nothing but disdain for them, their concepts, their authors and those who subscribed to the theory that government knows best.

I am out of the mainstream of thinking in this. For you see, I am a populist and feel that poor people should also be able to live and prosper without rules and regulations aimed at them by the "feel good feeling snobs." The owner of a 10-year-old mobile home is living in his home. It is all he has, if he could afford it, he or she would move out of their 10-year-old mobile home and buy a mountain in North Caroling and build a summer home. Most people live as high as their circumstance's permit.

The "snobs" talk about their "Property values." They have no consideration for the real value to the owner of an inexpensive mobile home. These same snobs wish to finance their friends in building of mobile homes, but wish them to go elsewhere.
"Property values"' are always the specter which is presented when some of these influential snobs wish to thwart some project of which they do not approve. If these people wish to control their property values, they can go into a subdivision with covenants and their neighbors will be required to build similar houses on similar sized lots.

The city council at one time outlawed mobile homes for living in the city limits but would approve the same structure for an office or business structure. We even have a bank in a mobile home of sorts now.If you get right down to the argument, some conventional homes more than 10 years old are more of an eye sore than some mobile home the same age. Look around at some of the rental homes which those responsible for the passage of the ordinance owns. Which is preferable in your sight?

NEW SUBJECTS.

The Democrats now criticize Bush because he doesn't quit his job and go personally to find Osamu Ben Laden somewhere in Asia. Where was their criticism when Hillary could not find her billing records in her bed room?

They criticize Bush because he can't find Saddam. Where was their criticism when the Clinton agencies could not find Eric Rudolph in one state?

It took the Clinton administration longer to win the war against the Branch Dravidians in Waco than it took The Bush administration to win the war against Saddam. The Democrats shout about civilian casualties in Iraq and complain that the Bush administration was killing children and babies. Did not the Clinton administration kill children and babies at Waco? Collateral damage is the same. The Waco babies did not deserve to burn to death any more than the unfortunate babies killed in the Iraq war.

PETA- I just to today found out what the initial's P.E.T.A. stood for. It means People Exhibiting Terrible Attitudes.

To day is my 73rd. birthday for at least 60 of these 73 years, I have observed the actions of people relative to their affiliation with their government and their participation with it. I have observed the relationship change from one of almost total loyalty to the decisions made by their elected officials to a mind set which reflects the attitude of, "If I feel the law is unjust, I should not be compelled to follow it."

Dr. King, looked at racial laws and practices, recognized their oppressiveness and strived to make changes. Following the template set by Mahatma Chandi, he used the force of passive resistance. His success in changing the face of the oppression of the black minority by the white majority, set an example which is now being used to rent the fabric of a political society and splinter various segments. It is called "Balkanization."

In my observations of more than three score years, it seems that the academic environment is probably the most insidious influence which fosters hostility to the elected government of the people.There is a time in the adolescence period of the lives of young people when they rebel against the rules of their parents. They think that they know everything that there is to know about everything that is known. It is at this rebellious time in their lives that this rebellion against the "status Quo" is subjected to another authority image. I.e., their college professor. (Those who go to College.)

Fortunately, most grow out of that state. Unfortunately some provide fertile incubation for anti-establishment rhetoric.
Let me provide you with some examples of anti-establishment rhetoric.

1) Dr. Nicholas De Genova of Columbia University, is quoted as having said at an antiwar rally. ("I would like to see a million Mogadishus." (Meaning that it would please him to see a million of the American soldiers killed in the Iraq war.)

2)Dr. Edward Samuel a law professor at N.Y. Law School was convicted of having downloaded 100,000 vile photos of babies being sexually assaulted, young girl children in sexual acts with dogs, etc.

3)Duke University paid, with public funds, a former terrorist, Laura Whitehorn to lecture students. She advised students that it is easy to do a bombing.

4) U.C. Berkeley provided the Homosexual Alliance a $9,000.00 grant to promote illicit sexual activities.

5) U. N. C. fired professor Martha Lamb for making the following illustration in the example of positive change in race relations. N.A.A.C.P. was an acronym for "Niggers Ain't Acting Like Colored People." She went on to say that such remarks today are rarely heard.

6) The sixth illustration is perhaps the one portrayal of university policies which demonstrates the antagonistic view of College administrators of the American principals. This is the selective process of bringing in radical speakers and excluding conservative speakers. If a conservative speaker is somehow invited, the climate is so hostile that often a cadre of radical students shouts down the speaker. Conservative articles, if printed in student papers are allowed to be confiscated by radicals and burned with approval of college administrators.

Dr. De Genova would like to see millions of Americans boys killed. His college says that he has "protected speech."

Dr. Edward the collector of pornography was defended by fellow administrators. "This privacy of bedroom theory." The college is still paying him. It seems that in an attempt to commit a statutory crime of theft of services, he brought his home computes to the college technicians to be fixed. They found the Pornography. They were fired for violating his privacy. He was kept on the Payroll. The State of New York disbarred him. He cannot practice law because as an attorney he violated the law. He can still teach though.
Terrorist Whitehorn makes a living with lectures to college campuses where she continues to spout hate rhetoric.

There are almost 0 percent of College professors who do not fall in the category of "Liberal." The few conservatives were tenured from years back. Few Conservatives want to be in such a restrictive academic climate. Where "protected speech" is defined as freedom to promote any terrorist acts, any political correct thoughts, any sexual ethics which stimulate them. While on the other hand "Non protected speech" in any utterance which is at odd with their liberal views.

Yet parents are paying $30,000 per year to send their children to such institutions.

Whose side are they on anyway?
Examples:

1) Katie Couric in an interview with Pentagon correspondent, Jim Miklaszewski, on the subject of where Saddam Hussein, she made this statement, "So, they haven't been able to confirm reports he was taken to Tikrit, and then Mosul, and then hopefully to Syria."

2) Peter Arnett. On Bagdad TV. "Clearly American War Planers misjudged the determination of the Iraqi forces and clearly Bagdad is a city that is disciplined. My Iraqi friends tell me there is a growing sense of nationalism and resistance to what the United States and Britain are doing. Our reports about civilian casualties here, about the resistance of the Iraqi forces are going back to the United States and help those who oppose the war."

3) CNN revelations that CNN executives suppressed some of the news on the regime of Saddam to get preferential treatment for its reporters.

4) These one only three of hundreds of similar examples. Some depict those soldiers who have volunteered to serve their country as fools which only reflect their own lack of courage and moral conviction.

The left wing extremists are incapable of objective and impartial reporting and the sum totals of their intellectual product are some biases which reflect their own preconceived politics and neglect the views of a majority of Americans. They seem to have convinced themselves that they are our moral superiors and in fact are smarter and better than others.

They delight in depicting those ideas which they disagree with as stupid and the proponents dense and their views as irrelevant. They seem to think that all southerners are stupid and it comes as a shock to them that some southerners have ever read a book.

Am I talking about all the press? No, nearly all. There was a Garnet Survey in 1994 of accredited members of the press. According to their own accounting 50% deemed themselves to be Democrats, while only 4% considered themselves Republicans. In fact in that survey 89% voted the straight Democratic ticket. Later on more than 90% voted for Clinton. There was a recent Pew survey which showed that 89% of the American public does not trust the press. When an American reads an article which depicts a suicide bomber as repressed heroes, they know that no one who believes in the American principle of justice based on standards of morality, fairness, and equality could in any situation think of a person who kills an innocent person by stealth as a hero.

Fox News Network denies that they are conservative. They claim that they are fair and balanced. They say that, "they report you decide. " I suppose that these would make them conservative.

Fox has fewer outlets than NBC, CBS, ABC, or National Public TV, yet they draw more viewers than any of the above mentioned. The liberal outlets cannot seem to understand that people are in control of the remote, not their smug anchors.

In the first few days of the war most liberal pundits said that the war was going badly. Chris Matthews said it was going to be another Viet NAMH. He was not the only one who called it wrong. It seems that some were disappointed that more Americans did not die. They have a philosophy that News is what the Anchor, the Producer, the Editor says it is. The public is on to them. The public listens to a speech by a President and the Anchors come right behind and tell the public what the President said. This reflects the opinion that the anchor knows best and that the viewers are too stupid to decide what the President said or meant. Some times it seems that they are reporting on two different things.

They predicted that the war would go badly, when we won easily (Easily to us not to those who were getting shot at.) The liberal press reset the goal post.

They condemned the looting. They felt that the soldiers should forget their own safety and become policemen protecting the palaces of Saddam. Did you hear any of these protesting the looting following the winning of the NBA Championship of the Chicago Bulls? The press were in sympathy with the riots in Watts, Cincinnati, Boston, etc. They felt empathy and compassion for those whose ancestors had been treated so dastardly. Yet there seemed to be no understanding of those who had been treated worse by Saddam Hussein. Out of space not out of thoughts.

The trigger for this literary outburst was statements made by Congressman in a debate with Shawn Hannity of the Fox News Network Hannity and Colmes. In Rangel's criticism of the war, he made a statement which on its face indicated that the United States was deliberately bombing women and children. In the blistering attack by Hannity he repeated it several times in the same context but different word structures. He apologized later (weakly) by saying that it was a poor choice of words. General Sherman has been quoted as saying, "War is Hell." He was right and it is. There is no balm for the death of noncombatants, but such regrettable losses are unavoidable. United States policy is to minimize such losses. Such statements, which are made by a high, profile Congressman gives aid and comfort to the enemy. (Treason) To imply that we deliberately target women and children is not only incorrect. It is very detrimental to the world opinion of Americans. In a situation when an individual serviceman has targeted non-combatants against American Policy, this serviceman is held accountable. Remember Lt. Calley.

One individual congressman could be over looked, but Rep. Rangel seems to reflect the views of the majority of the black caucus and to a lesser extent the views of the Democratic Party, who make similar charges. Where was the moral outrage when whole sections of cities riot, kill and loot because some member seemed to have been mistreated? If that person is indeed mistreated, then the person who does the unjust act should be tried and punished. If that person does not receive the verdict which some feel warranted, it is certainly not justified to kill others and destroy their property. (Innocent women and children so to speak.) Where was Rangel's indignation in the Cincinnati riots, the Watts riots, the Chicago riots when the Bulls won the championship, and many other occasions?

Rangel went on to say that an incompetent President who drew fewer votes that Gore was staging the war. Democrats like to a demagogue this issue. It is convenient to over look the fact that such an occasion is constitutionally legal. It has happened in the past and will probably happen again in the future. The authors of the Constitution developed the Electoral College to give Geographic balance to the election of the President and Vice President. To claim that President Bush is an illegitimate president is to ignore the fact the Senate minority leader is elected from a population of 754,000 raking 46th in size. As an individual Senator Daschle has as much Senatorial weight as a Senator from the most populous state, California whose Senators are elected from a population of 33,878,646. In fact Wyoming Senators represent only 1.46 percent as many people, as do the California Senators.

Is Senator Daschle an illegitimate Senator because he represents only 2.23 percent as many people as a California Senator? The Democratic claim that Bush stole the election is pure political rhetoric. Senator Kerry is one of the leading prospects for the Democratic nomination for President, recently said that the United States needed a Regime change. A charge later picked up and disseminated by the world press.

Tokyo Rose, Axis Sally, Lord Haw Haw were all born in America and all tried in the courts as traitor and all convicted on the charges of aiding and comforting the enemy. Each made broadcast on behalf of the Axis powers. They at least had the decency to do so in the employment of the enemy. The criticism of U.S. policy by radical members of Congress needlessly causes the prolongation of the war.

Congress is berserk. In their maniacal quest for reelecting they disregard the original intent of the Republic. Congress was envisioned by the founding fathers as democratically elected group of citizens whose function was to go to the Capitol and represent the majorities who elected them.

Both parties seem to have an insatiable appetite for power whose quest for the same leads them to make outrageous and deceptive remarks playing to raucous views of special interest groups unwilling to accept the policies of a Republican form of government. Out of space not out of argument.

HILLARY HYPOCRISY


The US senate is locked in a debate relative to the confirmation vote on the Bush appointee for the circuit court in Washington.
This is what Hillary has to say, "I think that, that goes not just to the constitutional obligations of the Senate that should be followed, But it goes to whether or not we're going to have some kind of secret judiciary where people are elevated to our highest courts without ever having to answer questions."

The questions she is referring to are how he would rule on topics of, States rights under the tenth amendment, abortion, pledge of allegiance to the flag, prayer in schools etc.

Estrada simply answered, "I will follow the Law." This is not the answer radical liberal wanted. The wanted him to pledge allegiance to the liberal orthodoxy as practiced by the Atheist Liberal Left Wing of the Democratic party.

This is not what Liberals want to hear. They want to receive a pledge from Court appointees to make the laws in their image, not pass on the laws voted on by Congress. Democrats have observed that much of their "flag ship" legislation will not advance simply because their ideas will not pass a majority vote of the elected representatives.

Estrada has a majority of the votes to pass in the Senate, but for years' Southern Democrats set the rules of the Senate in such a way to require a super majority to cut off debate. The Southern Democrats used "filibuster" effectively for years to oppose race related legislation and voting rights legislation as applied to blacks.

Now these same Democrats are seeking to thwart the will of the majority of the Senate to filibuster the appointment of Judge Estrada.
Lets look back at Hillary's statement where she complains that Judge Estrada should not be elevated to the highest court without answering questions.

When it serves her purpose, she refuses to answer tough questions. Her press appearances are only before tried and trusted anchors who in some cases let her audit the questions.

She herself was elected to office after having her graduate thesis at Wellesley sealed in 1992 when she became first lady. (An euphemism)
Wellesley unsealed the thesis when she left the White House and it is now available at the Wellesley web site.
She was smart to have sealed the thesis so that her radical thoughts could not be used against her in some later race.
The thesis title, "There is Only the Fight." An Analysis of the Alinsky Model," exposes Clinton's strong ideological belief in big government."

These radical thoughts expressed by the late first lady and future Senator would have kept her from being elected in any political subdivision other than New York, California or Communist Russia.
The thesis discussed the life and teachings of Saul Alinsky, her most influential mentor.
Alinsky was a known lefty and Communist supporter.

A reading of her thesis makes it clear why she had to remove from public view her private political beliefs.
The sealing of documents is a common practice of politicians who aspire to higher planes.

While in the Senate Jimmy Carter had his papers sealed. I was probably the only Senator who voted against the legislation, even though I was probably the only Redneck Legislature who genuinely liked him as a person. (I still do, but that is not to say that I like some of his beliefs or statements.)

One thing that Politicians do not like is to have to face intemperate remarks made by themselves in the past.

They are picking up some of my writings. One day there were six hundred hits on my column. If I keep going there will be more INTERNET readers than BUYERS GUIDE READERS.

For background reference the life of Vidkum Quisling the Norwegian who collaborated with Germany during WWII. After Germany lost the war, Quisling was tried for treason, sentenced, and shot. The term Quisling became to mean "Traitor." Will the term Daschle become the American term for "Traitor?" Let's look at his recent statement on the war.

"I'm saddened, saddened that this president failed so miserably at diplomacy that we're nor forced to war. Saddened that we have to give up one life because this president couldn't create the kind of diplomatic effort that was so critical for our...." Daschle speaking to a labor union.

Let's look at Senator Daschle's record of diplomacy and American lives lost. His party was responsible for diplomacy when Americans died in the Balkans and Somali (Remember the body of the American soldier being dragged through the street?)

Surely all Americans who have any conscience would like to use Diplomacy in lieu of war. What is the record of the successful use of diplomacy to keep the United States out of war? I mean diplomacy of the Democratic party.
Where was the diplomacy when Commodore Perry took the "Great White Fleet" around Japan shelling a population who did not even own a cannon? The Democrats were in control and Democrat Franklin Pierce was President.
In failed diplomacy Democrat Woodrow Wilson was President and his party led un into World War I.

Democrat President Franklin Roosevelt failed in diplomacy and led us into World War II.
And in the Korean War Democrat Harry Truman was President.
Was not Kennedy a Democrat in the White House when we went into Viet Nam?
Was not Daschle in the Senate when Democrat Bill Clinton invaded Haiti? (We were supposed to be out of there in two years. We are still there.)
Did Daschle lament the loss of American lives when his Democrat President sends Americans to kill thousands of Christian Yugoslavians then fighting Moslems in Kosova?

And to cap this comparison was not Tom Daschle in the Senate when his Democratic President Bill Clinton sent cruse missals to bomb an aspirin factory a training camp in Afghanistan, (where and errant missals which hit Pakistan) and also Iraq.
Diplomacy failed in all the above under Democrat Presidents. (In some cases rightly so.)
If President Bush is right and we do find all the weapons of mass destruction that is believed to be there, then the United States will be correct in its actions.

If not Daschle will be justified in his treasonous remarks and Bush will be the traitor.
The War is to start in about eight hours. The out come of this was will decide who is the traitor. My money is on Daschle and we might coin a new American term for traitor, Daschle.
If the war goes as we expect Senator Daschle will not be tried for treason for you see a large part of the Washington Democrats are in lock step with him.

The majority of the American public is in lock step with President Bush.


THE FRENCH CONNECTION

We are counting the French out as far as help in the Iraq war. I think that this is a mistake.
News reports indicate that we are dropping million of leaflets advising the Iraq army how to surrender. Our Generals don't know "Doodley Squat" about how to surrender an Army. How can they offer advice? On the other hand the French wrote the book on how to surrender. We should hire their Generals to write the leaflets. As they say, "The French are a funny race, they fight with their feet and make love with their face."

It looks like that I am going to have to start drinking wine, mineral water, buying French cars, so I can join in a Boycott.
"DERELICTION OF DUTY" By Lt. Col. Patterson.
This is a must reading for Patriots.
Lt. Col. Patterson served as President Clinton's military aide for the years 1996-1998.

In 1996 Secretary 13, 1996 National Security Adviser, Sandy Berger from the situation room called President Clinton for an O.K. on a planned attack on Saddam Hussein. This attack was in response to the August 31 attack by the Republican Guard tank attack on the Kurdish City of Irbil. (A violation of the 1991 surrender accords.) In this attack 500 Kurds had been executed and 1500 more killed in the tank attack. Also, 300,000 Kurds were forced to flee from their own territory.
President Clinton was watching a Golf tournament in Manassas, VA.

An attack was previously planned and Berger asked for the "go ahead." 8-f11t stealth bombers were on the runway loaded with 2000 # bombs. B-52 was on "ready alert" at Diego Garacia in the Indian ocean.
Four different times Sandy Berger called Lt. Col. Patterson to ask Clinton for the O.K. on the previously planned attack. Four different times' he refused to talk to his security adviser. The attack was scrubbed because "Clinton" placed a Golf Tournament ahead of National Security.

WAR FOR OIL?


I won't say that "Liberal Democrats" are stupid. Though some, are. I won't say that their arguments are all stupid. Though some, are. I can say without any valid argument against. That some liberal democrats advance stupid arguments knowing that they are falsely established on improper premises and believing that there are enough stupid people to buy into their argument.

One of these Democrat Party talking points is that Bush is going to war for the benefit of his "Texas Oil Based" contributors.
This is a political hypothesis totally lacking validity but is effective to the shallow minded photogenic Hollywood stars and starlets. They then espouse this argument and convince their impetuous flock.

One should note that Bush did indeed collect more contributions from Texas oil related companies than the Democrats. He also aggregated more contributions from all Texan business (and individuals) than the Democrats. Also, nationwide the Democrats did quite well in business contributions. In fact it was almost a wash by comparisons.

The cold economic fact being that, if this were the case and the United States took all the Iraq oil for the benefit of President Bush's Texas contributors with oil connections, the Oil Companies would gain financially. This is not the case. Their profits would be less. The cheap crude would force all prices down and the oil companies would have less cash flow.

Had the Bush connections been of a mind to take over the Oil fields of Iraq, They could have done so in the previous war. (Note; Bush Sr. had control of all the southern fields in the war of Desert sands.) (Note, he also had the same Oil-based contributions as did his son Bush, Two.)

If crude prices are lowered the Oil industry will make less.
Let me give a simplistic example. If oil is $10.00 per barrel and the refinery adds 10% then the refinery has a $1.00 markup. If oil is $40.00 per barrel and they add 10% then they have a $4.00 markup. (They make more on expensive crude.) (This is very simplistic because of other factors which change when oil prices changes, such as freight, labor, etc.) Also domestic crude goes up as imported oil goes up, so the "small part" of oil which is domestic would benefit from high crude costs, and conversely suffer with plentiful oil and the associated low crude cost.

This is an argument which can be attacked in such manners as to confuse the public. You cannot, however; argue that peak profits of oil companies are more when oil is scarce (Remember recent history)


The Democrat talking points are that the uncertainty of the Iraq situation has been the only cause of Oil Prices escalating. This is also a false claim. The loss of Venezuela oil due to strikes and an unstable political climate is the major reason for the increase of crude prices.

In addition after 911 President Bush wisely ordered the Department of Energy to increase the strategic reserve. This reserve has gone form 544 millions barrels on hand on Sept ll to 599 millions of barrels today. This competition on the market has helped fuel the oil price increases.

Due to the Bush's initiative in building up the Strategic Petroleum Reserves the United States has the equivalency of 313 days of Persian Gulf oil. During the Persian Gulf war crude prices went to $41.00. This hurt the economy and led to the political defeat of Bush one.

The Democrats' strategist creates the specter that low crude price helps the Oil Companies and hurts the Consumer. They are wrong on both claims.

If their argument "Bush is interested in taking Iraq oil," is correct then the consumer will benefit. Pump prices always follow barrel prices will be lowered. (With a short delay)

In summary, if the Democratic talking point is correct and the US takes over the Iraq Oil fields and prices the crude below the world markets, pump prices will go down due to competition.

In addition Domestic crude will go down adversely affecting the Bush campaign "Oil" contributors. Also, those companies dependant on imported oil will have less cash flow.

I wonder if the Democrats will announce that Bush 2 is responsible for the low pump prices and the low Oil company profits, if the coming war lowers crude prices? Stay tuned.

Text for my diatribe-Jesica Fiasco (A signed Rant)

I would like to place a disclaimer in this diatribe. I take no satisfaction from the death of Little Jesica Santillan. I wish that she could have lived.

Lets look at the facts as they were developed by the Press. Jesica was a teenage Mexican Girl. Jesica was doomed to die unless she could get a heart/lung transplant. Such medical technology was available in Mexico City, her own country.Such treatment was in all likely hood beyond the resources of the Santillan family.

They chose to pay a "Coyote" several thousand dollars to smuggle her into the United States. A "Coyote" as used in this context is a human smuggler.Jessica arrived at the Duke medical center and by some mechanism was able to jump to the head of the Donner Recipient list and go into surgery to have her diseased heart and lungs removed and replaced by those of an American Donner.
The press elected to make a human interest story out of "Little Jesica." The whole country becomes concerned and many were praying for her.

Then came a dreadful turn of events. The match of the donated heart/lungs was not compatible with her heart/lung.
She was facing death, surely. Now the American public really became concerned. A new Donner was found. Too late "Little Jesica" tragedy died.

This was surely malpractice. But who? There should have been peer review to check the blood types. If there was, then they made a mistake. By the nature of the word "mistake" you cannot expect each and every malfunction of the mind or body to be small and inconsequential. Some are whoppers. But common sense demands that closer attention is paid to very important transactions. In this case the mistake was critical.

After the mistake was discovered, the first thing the Santillan family "Lawyered Up" with a very capable American Trial Lawyer.
This lawyer became so obnoxious that Duke banned him from the IC unit.

Now after the sad death of Jessica. Duke, the Doctor, and many technicians face the potential of Millions of dollars of claims from a medical malpractice suit.The Santillan family will probably become one of the richest families in their community and the trial lawyer will become one of the weather lawyers in NC.

Now the story gets more sordid. The family of Jesica refused to allow those usable organs to be taken from Jesica and given to some other person in need.

Stats which I dug up indicate that 16 people die each day while on an organ donor list.In the need to save her life, many possible recipients lost theirs waiting for suitable organs. Yet the Santillan family seemed not to care enough to help some other needy person.
The millions of dollars of medical cost incurred, in the operation will be picked up by Americans. Taxpayers and supporters of Duke Medical Center.

Other millions will be paid in increased fees resulting from Doctors having to increase their fees to pay off the trial Lawyer and the Santillan family.

The press seems to have cooled in this case, but the fact remains.Little Jessica and her family were guilty of a fraud directly in the illegal smuggling of Jessica into the United States for free medical care.

The family is guilty of gross arrogance and selfishness in the refusal to allow the harvesting of body parts.
And I suppose that one would say that loving parents would go to any extremes to try to save the life of one whom they loved dearly. It's understandably so, but not justifiably so.

In this case at least two entitled people waiting for donnas, they died.

This is bad but it could be worse. In fact it is much worse. Each day the citizens of the United States are asked to pick up the medical and education cost of thousands of illegal aliens across America.
Their life is made harder in supplying medical care to those not entitled and in far too many cases, they themselves cannot afford adequate medical care or acceptable education for their own children.

When is too much too much?

Tax cuts explained from the Democratic point of view Subject: Tax Cuts Explained

Let's explain tax cuts the way the Democrats do with this illustration which came to me through the Internet. I know who sent it but I do not know who originated it and can't grant credit to the author.

Suppose that every day, ten men go out for dinner. (One Republican and nine Democrats)
The bill for all ten comes to $100.If they paid their bill the way we pay our taxes, it would go something like this:
The first four men -the poorest-would pay nothing; The fifth would pay $1:the sixth would pay $3; the seventh $7; the eighth $12; The ninth $18.The tenth man-the Republican-would pay $59.

That's what they decided to do. The ten men ate dinner in the restaurant every day and seemed quite happy with the arrangement -until one day, the owner decided to give them a meal refund. (To stimulate the trade.)
"Since you are all such good customers," he said, "Out of the $100.00 you paid I am going to refund you $20.00"
The group still wanted to pay their bill the way we pay our taxes. So the first four men were unaffected. They would still eat free.
But what about the other six, the paying customers?

How could they divvy up the $20 windfall so that everyone would get their "fair share?"
The six men realized that $20 divided by six is $3.33. But if they subtracted that from everybody's share, then the fifth man and the sixth man would end up being paid to eat their meal. (Earned income credits)
So they formed a Bi-Partisan Committee who figured that it would be fair to reduce each man's bill by roughly the same amount, and they proceeded to work out the amounts each should pay.
And so the fifth man paid nothing, the sixth pitched in $2,the seventh paid $5,the eighth paid $9,the ninth paid $12,leaving the tenth man with a bill of $52 instead of his earlier $59.
Each of the six was better off than before. And five would now eat free.
But the public advocacy groups became involved and talked to the men about the way the $20.00 refund was divided up.

"You only got a dollar out of the $20," they told the sixth man. They pointed to the tenth, and said " He got $7!" "Yeah, that's right," exclaimed the fifth man. "I only saved a dollar, too. It's unfair that he got seven times more than me!"
"That's true!" shouted the seventh man. "Why should he get $7 back when I got only $2? "This system taxes the rich on the backs of the poor."

"Wait a minute," yelled the man from the Rainbow Coalition. "Four men who were eating free didn't get anything at all from the refund on the $100.00.The system exploits the poor!"
The nine men surrounded the tenth and beat him up. The next night he didn't show up for dinner, (He had left the country.) So the nine sat down and ate without him.But when it came time to pay the bill, five men got up and left without paying. (They didn't owe anything under the new arrangement.)

The four men left paid what the Democrats said was their "fair share," but they were $52 short! They had killed the goose who had laid the golden egg.

Terry Macauliff from the Democrat Executive Committee commissioned a poll and published the conclusion that about 50% of the men felt that the dinner cost was about right.

And that is how the tax system works.

I HAVE A LOT OF CLEANING UP TO DO TO THE TRENT LOTT ARTICLE.


First it is true that I have never licked Trent Lott, but what I
actually meant to imply was that I have never liked him. These modern
word processors automatically correct misspelled or typographical
errors. Sometimes they do not know what you have in mind.

The article was full of errors, the publisher printed an early Christmas
edition and I just set down and typed the article from memory of events
over the last 50 years.

The article had the name of George Wallace in the group of Democrat
Senators who were racist. He was Gov. of Alabama.
I used the name of Robert Bird as a segregationist from Virginia. Robert
Bird the arctic explorer was a brother to Virginia Senator Harry Byrd.

Hugo Black Supreme Court justice was a Klansman as was Democrat William
Jennings Bryan.Those Klan members now claim that they were not ever a terrorists. Just
anti-Jewish, anti Negro, Anti Catholic, and Anti Equal protection of the
law.

Other than those few minor errors, my article appeared to be free of
errors.

It is my intention to give the complete votes of those Democrats who
were against Blacks voting, against anti-lynching laws.
I still haven't been able to get the record but I have been able to find
some quotes which tend to prove what I already knew, that politicians
tend to lie to suit the political climate.

The Democrats want Lott to resign for trying to butter up to a
100-year-old man by saying what a good Democrat he used to be when he
was a segregationist decades ago.

As I pointed out at the same time present, Democrat Robert Byrd seems
not to have to address his past as a Klansman in the same era. He now is
playing the part of Georgia Confederate General Paul J. Semmes a
plantation owner, a slave owner and a banker. (Civil War Movie God and
Generals.)

Byrd has this to say, "This film allowed me the opportunity to help
bring American history to life, to spring if from the pages of history
books into the flickering images of the movie screen." How can there be
any significant difference in his waving a Confederate flag in a movie
and those who seek to preserve their heritage now with the Confederate
flag?

Hillary seemed to be bent out of shape at what Lott said in praising
Thurman. Where was she in 1989 when her husband then Governor of
Alabama was sued for intimidating black voters as part of a legal action
brought under the 1965 voting rights act?

In 1988 Clinton as Alabama Attorney General the U.S. Supreme Court ruled
that Clintons had wrongfully tried to overturn the election of a black
state representative in favor of a white Democrat. (The vote was 8-0
against Clinton)

I have read every biography written about the Clintons. Both those
friendly to the Clintons and those unfriendly to the Clintons. Anybody
reading these biographies will come to the conclusion drawn by the
biographers that the Clintons very readily used Anti-Jewish statements
and Anti-Black statements.

If anyone is keeping records, they have the used the "N" word far more
often than any sailor has used the "F" word.

I could speculate that the same is true of most white politicians.
Remember, I too, have been privy to private communications from
politicians who want to appear un biased to the public but have a
deep-seated prejudice to black people.

It is true that Lyndon Johnson successfully got the civil rights act of
1965 passed but for political purposes and not racial fairness.
In his opposition to the 1957 voting rights acts he has this to say
trying to soothe and be diplomatic to liberals,"
("We've got to be reasonable") and stupidly sympathetic to the rednecks
("Let's face it, our ass is in a crack — we're gonna have to let this
nigger bill pass"). He then sent the bill to Democrat Fullbright to take
the teeth out of it.

present, but in case there is someone in Ga. whom I have not made mad, I
say this. I believe that Jimmy Carter is the most clean of racial

Trent Lott is gone and my feeling is "Good Riddance." I have never licked him and I can't feel much loss at his humiliating departure.
I feel strongly that there was a grave injustice done to him by the liberal press and hypocritical Democrat politicians. He was guilty of making a witless statement which was nothing more than trying to be nice to a 100-year-old man.
Consider the list of names of Senators which follow: Johnson of Texas, Byrd of Virginia, Eastman of Mississippi, Fullbright, of Arkansas, George and Russell of Ga., Bilbo of Mississippi, Bird of VA and Kennedy from Ms. Bumpers from AK, Wallace from Ala. And the list goes on.
These are only a few pulled from memory. They have one thing in common. They were all racist. They were all Democrats. They all were in the forefront in voting against the Civil Rights Act of 1957 sponsored by the Republican President Dwight Eisenhower and written by his Attorney General.
Lyndon Johnson (Dem) the Senate Leader sent the bill to the committee of Senator Eastman (Dem) to be killed. It was amended and watered down to the extent that it solved nothing. Even then nearly all the Southern Democrats in the House and Senate voted against the watered down Republican bill. Johnson wanted support for killing the bill at that time. (Later he sponsored the effective bill but for the wrong motive. "He wanted to turn the flow of registered Black voters from Republican to Democrat.")
Note John Kennedy then in the House also voted against the bill.
Senator Russell (Dem) GA. spoke against the bill. Johnson (Dem) TX. Voted with the southern block against the Republican bill.
Lyndon Johnson (Dem) TX. Johnson due to political expediency voted with his fellow Southern colleagues for a bill which strove to do away with Lynching, Eliminating the Poll Tax, and denying federal funding to segregated schools. He also trotted out the standard Southern excuse for not helping African Americans that he was "not against blacks rights but for states rights. (Code for anti black laws when Lott says it.)
Justice Hugo Black former KKK served on the Supreme Court.
Senator Richard Byrd has been pegged as a Cross-burning, night-riding, sheet wearing, Grand Klegal in the KKK.
In 1950 Byrd allegedly wrote a letter to the KKK's Imperial Grand Wizard and stated, "The Klan is needed today as never before." He spent 14 hours filibustering against the 1964 civil rights act. He voted against Thurgood Marshal and Clarence Thomas two blacks nominated for the Supreme Court. Then on March 4, 2001 on the Tony Snow show said, "These are white n*iggers. I've seen a lot of white n*iggers in my time. I'm going to use that Word."
Are the above mentioned politicians who were on the forefront in fighting Civil Rights legislation still racist? I don't know they were serving in offices where the culture required them to be racist to be elected. They have changed their spots, and script, but as for changing their nature we don't know. When we read between the line and read all the small print, we are led to believe that political expedience still cast their actions.
It was not a Democrat who sent troops to Little Rock and Montgomery to force the integration of those schools opposed by Democrat Governors but it was Republican Dwight Eisenhower.
Trent Lott is not the only one to pay tribute to a former racist. Remember the man from one of the Confederate States who has the Confederate flag, Bill Clinton from Arkansas. Remember his mentor Fullbright the long time Senator from Arkansas who was instrumental in amending the effects parts from the Eisenhower Civil Rights Act of 1957. Clinton gave Fullbright the highest award given to an American and in that presentation lauded him just as much so as Lott did Thurman. And I believe that if my memory is right Thurman was a Democrat at the time who voted against the 1957 act.
Alright Jessee, Maxine, Al, Kweisi, and white Tom Daschle and, Hillary Clinton are you prepared to call on Senator Byrd to give up his leadership role?
(I wonder who Senator Byrd was calling a "White N*igger." Byrd's term not mine. Was it his on Democrat friends?)
The Democrat party has no issues not based on race but their most effective issues are personal destruction. That is their base. They seek to divide over race and profit by that division.
Remember when the Democrats also caused the resignation of Senator Packwood when there was no testimony from the women of decades ago that he ever was successful. They hounded Packwood out of the Senate and wer silent when Clinton was censored for events surrounding a successful sexual adventure and Condit who also was successful got a pass from his colleagues. All Democrats.
It seems that one of the Kings (Rodney) got it right when he opined, "Why can't we just all get along?"

FALLINS FOLLY Chairman's Corner week of 02/12/10
Before I try to develop this precept, let me digress to the wisdom of the great Buddha. It seems that his disciples went to the Buddha the lament that there was much dissent over the eternal resting place of the soul. Being extremely wise to answer their queries, he said, bring to me all the local men who were born blind. Having assembled them, he brought forth an elephant and said to the blind men, tell me what sort of thing is an elephant. Each in their inability to see the whole affirmed their understanding by the part. The one grasping the tuft of the tail said that the Elephant was very like a brush, another falling against the leg said the elephant was very like a tree, and so on with each being right in the part and wrong in the whole, they begin their clamor, wrangling, and disputations, each maintaining that reality is thus and thus.
As I read Mr. Fallin's letter to the editor, it struck me that he seemed to be unable to grasp the complete picture being blinded to the whole and dazzled by the parts. Successful Industrial development results from studying each need and applying resources to the higher priority. It does not result from using all your funds in such manner to leave the total job unaccomplished.
Fallin's Folly in part was to think it a bargain that the City of Moultrie would install utilities at $30.00 per foot plus $175,000 for a lift station. Is not $30.00 per foot $158,400.00 per mile? (Remember one site offered had all the utilities plus natural gas.)
Fallin's Follies in part could be his continual claims of great accomplishments in getting National Farmlands Beef. I agree that the 130 jobs are an asset to the county. According to the figures released by the EDC the original 130 jobs had a tax payer cost of $53,846.15 per job. During my service on the board we located 171 new jobs. Most of these helped local people. Our cost was $2,800.40 per job. (I was on the board all of this time and it was Chaired by Mr. Sherrod McCall and Dan Jeter. )
We accomplished a great deal with very little money. Consider the economic ramifications to the county if the $7,000,000 of tax money used by Mr. Fallin in National Farmlands, had been used with local business to improve their facilities and to hire extra employees.
(A good part of that cost was loans which is being paid back.) We also were instrumental in the Oakwood expansion. This expenditure of tax funds was small but resulted in considerable employment for a time. They are in Bankruptcy now but the facilities will almost certainly be acquired and used later. All is not lost. We do not know how long National Farmlands will continue, according to an article in the Moultrie Observer, National Farmlands is also bankrupt.
Fallin's Folly is overlooking industrial property already owned by The City of Moultrie, Colquitt County and industrialist with unused available lands and buildings. Mr. Fallin seems to be dazzled by the thoughts of an engineering edifice in memorial to his efforts. It is an extreme folly to utilize all the sales tax money to purchase more land when the county and cities have adequate unused space. It is equally unfair not to try to locate industry in those buildings abandoned or soon to be abandoned.
It is folly to overlook the needs of local people and give priority to those who are not a part of the community.
Fallin's Folly is trying to ram down the throat a scheme contrived to obtain much publicity. A scheme opposed by many people considerably more knowledgeable than he in Industrial development.
We need to develop jobs. The sales tax payer recognized these needs and appropriate funds to do this. The use of these funds should be wise and used with the input of those with knowledge and honor.
In my editorial in the Tuesday I indicated that part of the Fallin's Folly was the purchase of land for more than it had been offered for.
I used sources who were both honorable and knowledgeable. One of these asked to be off the record. Others did not make that request. However; At the present time these too will be off the record.
Mrs. Vivian Griner has informed me that I am incorrect in that this property has never been offered at the range of $2,250/$3000 per acre. If she is correct in this then I am incorrect, I will owe both families an apology and thry will get it.
Mr. Griner indicated that Mr. Smith and he would like to discuss this subject and tell their side. This is a reasonable request but they were unable to both meet as this article is being prepared. The Griners and Smiths are honorable people. I am prepared to offer space next week for their part of the story if they still desire.
I never wish to state a fact which is not true and I will go to any lengths to correct any false information appearing under my name.
And the final folly is the belief that any great influence can be gained by carrying on an argument in rant and rave.
First if their letters have merit, they can be printed in "Letters to the Editor' which require a signature. If a signature is attached then one can attribute both position and motive to that writer.
In this day of caller I.D. what is thought to be anonymous calls are readily identified unless the calls come from out of area, or unlisted numbers. This information has a way of ultimately surfacing.

My secretary called to the back office and told me that I might want to slip out of the back door because my friend Coo Coo Harry was coming in the front door waving the Moultrie Observer. That always bodes ill for me. To say the least Coo Coo is very excitable and that papers always bring out the worst in him.
Having nothing better to do than to listen to his ranting and raving, I decided not to use my escape route.
My friend, I said, what brings you by to grace my most humble office. Its that inspection that is going on in Iraq he says. Them inspectors ain't got the sense that God gave the common briar goat. They can't find anything the way they are going about. CNN and Fox are signaling their searches.
Here is where I made my mistake. I said, how you conduct the search, my friend.
He said, you know the Rant and Rave section of the paper where the cowardly people with small minds use the column to bushwhack those who they do not have to courage to confront head on.
Coo, Coo, I am the prime subject in Rant and Rave, certainly, I know about it but what that have to do with searches in Iraq. You don't believe that a Rant and Rave column in the Bagdad Free Press would turn up a Hydrogen Bomb, do you. No one in their right mind would call in with caller I.D. and all that. Saddam would behead them and take their wives in a moment.
No, listen to me, he said. Iraq is as full of ranters and raters as Colquitt County is. There must be a zillion people who knows where all these weapons of mass destruction are hid. The construction workers, the taxi drivers, the meter readers, the scientist, and truck drivers. They all know something and by this time all their families and coffee table cohorts have been told. Of these people there are bound to be some who hates Saddam and there are bound be those who will turn for financial gain.
That still doesn't the question to the problem of how they can report their knowledge and not be detected. Heck, we now know who originates a lot of the rant and rave letters.
You are getting a head of me. I have thought this out. All we have got to do is to drop two zillion leaflets all over the country and to tell those who pick them up to write down their information for the search team. The leaflets can promise financial reward is their information pan out. They can give any made up number composed of alpha numbers derived by dates personal to them. For instant they could give their Mother-in-Law's birth date, Saddam's birth date. Any number of things.
How do you plan for them people to get the filled out leaflets to the right people? That would be some problem but there are always snitches who know how to get their information out.
If Saddam loses out they can claim their reward by being the only one privy to the number. If Saddam is still in power, they do not stand to lose their head.
You may have something there, Coo Coo. For a million dollars you could turn up a lot of information if your scheme could keep the informants confidential.
Any way the plan would drive Saddam crazy. It would result in all his secrete Police cleaning up the roadsides of all the litter.
Are you crazy? . Them people don't have any idea what a million dollars is. Promise them a herd of goats or a motor scooter with a credit card for gas. I under stand that they are allowed four wives. You might even want to divide up Saddam's harem among the informants. That would get their attention. Some might trade Saddam for a Camel. That would be a really good swap.
It seems that you have put a lot of thought in this scheme, Coo Coo. But you are counting on the American Bureaucracy to implement it. I can guarantee you that if it is not in their training manual and if it is not their idea that there is not a single member of the CIA which would see any merit in it. Bureaucrats just ain't built to be productive.
I have thought about that also. This is where you come in. You got that crazy column in the Shoppers Guide who everybody reads to see whose name gets "put in the paper." Just write what I am telling you and ask the readers to mail or e-mail it to anybody in the Guvment. If them bureaucrats think that someone else might have the notion to do it, they might want to go ahead themselves by doing it first. Hell, we have a man in our own county who is on some kind of a committee looking into Saddam's business.
Coo, Coo, you amaze me. If your idea takes hold, George Bush might even pin a medal on you and you would be famous,
Bush, Hell!. I couldn't care less about some medal. If they wanted to reward me, You know that foxy woman on Fox News Network. Lori Dew or something or other. You've seen that sly smile that she has when she says. I now give you the most powerful man in Cable news, Mr. Bill O'Reiley. If she would close out by saying Good night to Coo Coo Harry down in Needmore GA. That would be reward enough for men. It would be the culmination of a life time of Fantasy.

There you have it folks. Help Coo Coo spread his idea.

WE ARE AT WAR NOW.

This war is different from other wars. There is no country that we can go into and blast with our modern weapons of war, destroy the infrastructure, and demand political changes which we deem proper.

If the country of Iraq did not exist we would have a problem of terrorism. When Saddam is gone there will still be trerrorism.
This is a war of terrorism. This is a war which can conceivably go on forever. This is a war where the enemy cannot be separated out and subdued.
There are those who "Hate America First." They say that the United States has brought all this on themselves.

The cite past history where the United States because of its superior strength has used that strength to throw their weight around.
Commodore Perry went around the country of Japan shelling fishing villages, killing Japanese, disrupting the way of life. We said that we were
opening Japan up for Missionaries.
President Monroe sent war ships to the Mediterranean coast to punish the Barbary pirates.
We invaded Cuba, and the Philippines and Porta Rica and ran the Spanish out.
We occupied the capital of China.
We propped up American companies in South America.
We made war with Mexico and took the most valuable of their real estate.
We have invaded Panama and Grenada, Haiti, and Yugoslavia.
We had police actions in Korea and Viet Nam.

These are some actions which we have taken against other countries. Some with good cause according to our political philosophy.
Regardless of the merit of our actions we left enemies. In many of these countries, we went back in and rebuilt these infrastructures and
placed the countries on sound economic footing.

For those who "Hate America First," and cite the above, I would say. Yes the above is true, but the United States was one of many countries who took what they wanted from those who were weaker.England, Spain, France, Russia, Sweden, Portugal, Italy, and others were guilty of the same, but few had the benevolence to make the occupied countries better. Remember when President Clinton bombed Afghanistan. There where those in the United States who accused the President of causing a distraction from his political problems. Some in the U.S. believed, some didn't. But in Afghanistan and Pakistan (Where some errant missals landed) most believed that this was unjust. One has to wonder where the rights of those religious people of Waco were. We cannot legally send the FBI into a Moslem service to determine if they were teaching terror. But we sent the FBI into the Waco congregation to determine if the preacher was polygamist. We then caused the destruction of most of the congregation. Doesn't make much sense does it?

There is no nation on earth where all of its citizens are as well off in wealth, personal freedom, and political liberties as are those citizens of the United States.
There are those among us for financial gain and political notoriety seek to divide the classes or races. They are the Black leadership and the Democratic leadership.
I wish to remind my readers again when I mention Black leadership which I have no use for, I do not include the majority of Black people nor when I talk of Democratic leadership, I am not speaking of those Democrats who are not a part of the Democrat's hierarchy.
We do not live in a Democracy. A Democracy is where the majority rules. The Government of the United States was constituted as a Republic. This is a political organization where the majority elect their representatives and those elected represent the majority.
That is the way it is supposed to be in a republic. There are those in leadership positions who do not subscribe to this form of government. They feel that the minority should prevail. The minorities should be protected, but that is not to say that they should call the shots.
The black leadership maintains their position of power by dividing the citizens with so ranting and raving with so-called abuses. An extreme example is, "Little Black Sambo." Little Black Sambo was never of the Negro race. He was Afghanistan. This did not keep the black leadership from making an issue of the name causing it to be removed off the shelves of libraries. Even to the extent of closing a restaurant chain which unfortunately derived it name form its owners.
The national organization of women claims to be a minority and thus claim entitlement to special privileges. When in fact they are not a minority. There are 107 women for every 100 men in the United States. Yet they claim minority status and privilege.
Black Leadership and NOW seek to gain their goals by economic blackmail. They call for boycott when they cannot prevail by the historical Democrat/Republican form of government. They usually get their way. They never consider that economic sanctions hurt those whom they claim to represent as much as it hurts those to whom they wish to harm. Economic Boycotts are not selective.
A great many of the people which were incensed by the change of the Georgia flag were not caught up in the heritage movement as were others. They did resent a minority telling the majority that they must have their minority view enacted upon or they would boycott.
A combination of those who resented coercion and those who felt that their heritage was threatened were enough to be the swing the balance in the last election.
The issue will be used again and the Democrats are going to be the minority party in both houses in the next election. Some Republican will introduce a bill to call for a referendum on the flag issue. The bill will die in the House and those who let it die will not be back. After the next election the House will also be Republican. Want to bet?
There are some regenerate people left. The story is told of the regenerate Reb who was mustered out of the Confederate army without having to take the pledge of allegiance to the US government as required in the parole instrument. He slipped through the crack and did not take the oath of support. He moved back to Fitzgerald where he set on the porch of the hotel and made endless harassing statements when the Union company of occupation marched by. He would call out, "You Yankees won the war, but we kicked___ at Manassas."
The Union occupation force was commanded by a young Lt. who was ordered not to cause local conflict but the continual jibs wore on his nerves. He finally asked for instruction of his commander after explaining the conduct of the Reb. He was granted permission to arrest the offending Reb and hold him in lockup on bread and water until he signed the oath of allegiance to the United States and agreed to the terms of the parole. After a few days he saw the error of his ways and signed the oath and returned to his position on the hotel porch.
By this time the conflict between the officer and the Reb was town knowledge and a grate force of the local populace gathered to see what would happen the next day when the Lt. marched his troops by.
The Reb called out in his original strident voice. Us Yankees won the war but them Rebs kicked ____at Manassas.

I told you so!

Most people take satisfaction of being able to say, "I told you so,"
when an event that they predicted came to pass. I am no exception, In my article of August 15,
I claimed that under an agreement made by the Clinton administration that the American taxpayer
was financing a Nuclear bomb program in North Korea. I made the claim based on the following statement
which appeared in that article.

THE CLINTON ADMINISTRATION? WHAT COUNTRY IS ONE OF THE THREE COUNTRIES
INCLUDED IN THE AXIS OF TERROR UNDER PRESIDENT BUSH?

If you know one, you know the other. They are the same. North Korea.
Clinton provided $6 billion for the construction of nuclear reactors,
according to the Cox committee in congress. According to reports of the
committee, this investment of the U.S. taxpayer will produce spent
plutonium at the rate of 17,300 ounces per year or enough to produce 65
nuclear bombs per year.

The committee also reported that the Clinton Administration providing
500,000 metric tons of fuel per year to the Communist Regime in Korea.
This is twice the civilian use. Thus, we are providing 250,000 metric
tons per year to the North Korea military-industrial base The 500,000 tons of fuel
were given to the North Koreans. America, South Korea, and Japan provided funds
to build two Nuclear reactors. The cost was $6 Billion. Now "they," meaning the powers
that are tell us that North Korea did indeed produce an atomic bomb and it is only logical
o believe that the American Taxpayers FUNDED IT. The 1984 deal to provide the Light water
nuclear reactors gave the North Koreans the capacity to produce almost
100 nuclear bombs per year. These reactors produce 500 kilograms of
plutonium in spent reactor fuel yearly.

The North Koreans have the delivery potential to hit parts of the United States, Japan, South Korea,

The taxpayer gives North Korea more foreign aid than any other country
in the area. My prediction was not based on any clairvoyance on my part but was based

faulted policies of the Clinton Administration, they would have been better advised to read the report.
Why would Congress give vast sums of taxpayer funds to finance an avowed enemy? Certainly,
they had no way to inspect how the funds were being spent. In Comparison, Iraq is an open society
in terms of inspection. Virtually no one is allowed in North Korea and those who are allowed for
political reasons are restricted in where they go and what they see.

NOW THAT I HAVE GOTTEN NORTH KOREA OUT OF THE WAY, I WILL ADVISE ON THE
WASHINGTON SNIPER.

With 24 hour coverage, I cannot add anything to what you already know
about the Sniper. These are the facts known. The same gun is being used. It is a .223
millimeters. People are being killed. The rest is speculation. The first to speculate was CNN
by one of the Suits with a talking head. It seems that based on no special knowledge but his own
speculation, the Sniper was a white American male, with a grudge against society, a loser, a person
wanting attention. He later turned into an angry white male.

Now one of the talking heads said that he was trained by the Russian Military. Still speculation.
There was one physiologist who said that he was person suffering from an abusive father. Still speculation.
He is also a person who wants to be in control. What we don't know is the sex, whether it was one shooter,
or several using the same gun, whether it was a target pistol or rifle, and when he is going to stop.
I placed in the above assumptive speculations so mine would not look so stupid.

Get ready. It is not one person but several using the same gun. They are people who are taught that they will
lane where a dozen virgins will be ready, able, and willing to satisfy there every demand. All they have to
do is to kill a person of some other religion. Why do I think that this is possible?

I TOLD YOU THAT I WAS GOING TO SAY, "I TOLD YOU SO."
In my article last week, I made the underlined statement which follows.
This article was written two days before the simpers were caught.
.Get ready. It is not one person but several using the same gun. They
are people who are taught that they will go right into Heaven in the
fast lane where a dozen virgins will be ready, able, and willing to
satisfy there every demand. All they have to do is to kill a person of
some other religion.
Why do I think that this is possible?
They have motive. They are doing it all over the world. "
I seemed to be on target. The question then arises. How could some
unknown writer publishing in an obscure shopper know that the prime
person was a Moslem and other national know pundits publishing in
publications of national distribution not figure out the same and report
it?
The answer to that is that there were many writers who thought as I did.
They would not write nor would their publisher publish such conjectures.
The answer lies in political correctness.
They are afraid of being charged with bias and prejudice.
News reports indicate that the Police questioned Mohammed after some of
the first sniper killings and did not make an arrest. The problem is,
They were looking for a white man who fit the profile developed by some
fuzzy thinking Philologists.
The can't be faulted by not recognizing and arresting him at that time.
The fault lies in dependence on a profile which may very well have
caused them to do sloppy investigative work looking for a white man and
ignoring all others.
Now members of the liberal press are whining that this terrorist can't
get a fair trial. They profess grief that the 17-years-old who has
killed several people will be tried as an adult and heavens forbid,
eventually executed.
In fact these bleeding hearts can't accept that they are terrorists.
Terror is the very emotion which they express when they thought that
these deaths were the work of an angry white man.
There is also, now that we know that Mohammed is Muslim, a press
prohibition of connecting terrorism with radical Muslims. How naive can
you be?
Look at the facts as reported by credible sources.
The 17-years-old , Malvo, was picked up by Border control and held as a
store away. Law required that he be deported without any hearing.
Instead the INS asked that the charge be changed to illegal alien then
he could wait years for a hearing. The Border Petrol resisted and would
not make the illegal change. Then the INS bureaucrat changed the charges
out side the provisions of law. For humanitarian reasons said a
spokesman. Now we have an untold number of people. Cowardly murdered by
this 17-years old.
His fingerprints' ware found at the scene of a liquor robbery where one
person was shot and wounded and another was shot and killed.
Now Mr. Mohammed, a member of the Nation of Islam, worked for their
leader, Louis Farrakhan. Remember the man pictured recently kissing
Assiar Arafat, and Saddam Hussain. He was on the security force of the
1,000,000 man march on Washington sponsored by Farrakhan.
The Hate America First groups who criticized Jerry Fall well for his
criticism of Moslems were are now whining about a "fair trial." They
profess disbelief that Mr. Mohammed is driven by his religion. They seem
to take comfort in the belief that he may have been emotionally damaged
by being abused as a child.
Are there connections to foreign terrorist groups? Probably. The
specially designed assassins' car which served their purposes so well in
killing Americans had a Sony Lap Top computer and a GSP system when the
car was examined.
How does a man who doesn't work be able to afford such equipment?
Reports are that months a go a travel agent had reported Mr. Mohammed as
a possible terrorist because of the excessive amount of flying by a man
without a job. Who paid for these tickets?
Reports are now coming in that Mr. Mohammed killed a witness against him
and also shot into a Jewish synagogue.
Press downplays Truckers part in catching the sniper.
Ron Lancz, spotted the 1990 blue Chevy Caprice in a parking lot 1:00
Thursday, Oct. 24. He noted that the license plate matched the one being
broadcast by the media. (It should be noted that law enforcement did not
release the number it came through a media leak.)
He then called 911 and blocked the exit to the exit to the rest area in
order that Mohammed Malvo not be allowed to drive away.
I think of him as a hero. The press evidently does not. In a Lexis-Nexis
search of thousands of news reports only six mentioned him. (Search on
Thursday Oct. 24.)
Mr. Lancz does not think of himself as a hero. When asked about
$500,000 reward, he said that if he was given the reward that he would
not keep the money. He said that he would give it to the members of the
families of those shot.
"I am no hero." Lancz said, "I just want people to think that I did was
what I should have done, I'm no hero at this, no hero whatsoever. I
don't even want to be thought of as a hero. I just want everybody to
tell me thanks and walk away and forget about it is what I want." ....
The biased press can ignore his act, but as far as I am concerned, He is
my hero.

Local Ellenton businessman Frank Sutton has represented Colquitt County
in the Georgia legislature for years and most recently was Chair of the

IT TOOK ALMOST 73 YEARS, BUT I LIVED TO SEE THE DAY.

Georgia in now a two party state. The Colquitt county people now have
their own Republican Senator and he will be serving in a Republican
controlled Senate with help from a Republican controlled House and the
legislation of these two hoses will be administered by a Republican
President.

How does it feel to have a Governor called "Sonny?" Like it or not that
is what you have. Sonny won with 51.8% of the vote v. Roy's 45.9% with
95% of votes counted.
Roy did not run well in Colquitt County, but all is not lost, he still
has the support of Billy, R.L. and 98% of the Shaw district.

WE DON'T HAVE ONE.

I saw a lot of Saxby yard signs in Greenville, Ga. I suggested to a
station attendant that they must like Saxby. He says, I don't know, we
don't have one. I have never eaten at one, but I think they have one in
Macon. ( He evidently was thinking of Zaxbys fast food restaurant.) Any
way Greenville has one now.

BAD NEWS FOR RED NECKS IN PICK UPS.

When the legislature meets again the do-goobers left in the Democrat
Party will try to amend the seat belt law to require pick-up truck
drivers to use safety belts. Tom Murphy, the Speaker of the House drove a
pick-up at home and
demanded that pickups be exempt from the seat belt law. He lost his
election. So Get Ready, Red necks.Ragan appears to have lost his seat.
With 99% of the vote in this race showed him with 49.9 % to 50.1 percent
for Republican John Bullock. He seems to have been a victim of bad
advice on the Georgia flag.

NON PARTISAN ELECTIONS FOR COUNTY OFFICES.

This might be an idea which may not float now. We have two Republican
and two Democrat house members representing Colquitt County.
The name of the game was patronage. This means that the party in the
county which dominates gets the appointments. The Democrat/Republican
electoral system worked for many years. Then it appeared that Colquitt
County was leaning Republican. This would mean that the old Court House
gang might be left out of patronage. So they suddenly decided that the
system should be changed to do away with the two party system.
Now that we have a Republican Governor, I seriously doubt that the
Republican legislature members are going to approve local legislation to
throw away that hard earned perk,

FOILED ON THEIR OWN PETARD.

The Democrats was in charge of reapportionment so they took this
opportunity to try to make it difficult to elect Republicans. It appears
to have back fired. As late as last night National Democrat leaders were
crowing that Ga. would have a majority Democrat legislative group again.
Mr. Gephardt is going to have to go back to the drawing aboard. He will
retain his three black members but he is not assured on any more
Democrat Congressmen. (As I write this, two races haven't been called
yet.)

THEY TRIED TO STEAL THE ELECTION IN ARKANSAS.

Remember last election in St. Louis a Democrat Judge ruled that
predominately Democrat districts could stay open until 12:p.m. Many
Democrats voters were rounded up and voted before a federal judge over
ruled that decision.

They did it this time in Arkansas. Some Democrat Judge allowed some
predominately Democrat Black districts to stay open longer, an
opportunity denied to heavy Republican districts.
Democrats got one Senator by default. Their candidate was losing. State
law prohibited substitution 50 days before an election. The Democrat
withdrew 31 days before the election. The Democrat controlled Supreme
court deemed this O.K. It seems to have worked. The replacement won the
Senate seat.

They tried to steal another one when Senator Paul Welstone was killed
just prior to the election, they substituted Walter Mondale, and then
tried to have the previously cast absentee ballots cast for Welstone
count for Mondale. This didn't work.
This train of thought could go until I ran out of space. I think there
are enough illustrations to cast doubt on anything that local Democrats
tell you that a Non Partisan election would be best for the county. It
won't but it will certainly be best for present Democrat party hacks.

THIS COUNTY HAS FOUR REPRESENTATIVES AND TWO SENATORS AT THE STATE
LEVEL.

This came about in an effort to keep Republicans out of office. Two
years from now Republicans will control both the Georgia House and
Senate. They should then reapportion in such a way that County such as
Colquitt would not be split. If Democrat candidates find this makes it
hard for them to be elected, too bad. It's a poor game that only one
side can play.

Last week, I mentioned some thoughts on a nonpartisan election and gave
my reservations about this proposal and I also mentioned that it was all
about political patronage. "To the winner belongs the spoils," has
always been a slogan whether the winner was Republican or Democrat. Now
it appears that the "whiners" are moaning and groaning because the
spoils will be going to the Republican leadership in Colquitt County.
They couldn't stop the Republicans at the ballot so they want to change
the rules of election by nonpartisan elections so that there will be no
Republicans or Democrats.

Patronage has always been practiced, but is hard to prove. The fact that
your supporters have preferential treatment in State jobs is
difficult to prove. To establish such is complex and proof is demanding.
There is one facet of patronage where state records readily attest to
this fact. This is in the rental of buildings to State facilities. These
rents often go to political leadership and more often than not are
un-advertised, unbid, and at excessive rates.

I already know about this, but my observations would only be considered
partisan. In order to prevent this, I have written a letter to Austin Scott
asking that he secure these rental records and send them to, the Moultrie
Observer, The Colquitt Shopper, the Buyers Guide and myself. In order to
avoid duplication of effort, I also asked that a copy be sent to Senator
elect John Bulloch, and Representative elect Ed Rynders. To change the election
rules legislation must be introduced as local legislation and be signed by
a majority of the local delegation. It must also pass through the Justice
department.

The lawyer from Tifton who labeled Mayor McIntosh and Gene Vereen as the
two most powerful political people in Colquitt County offended some other
Democrats who thought of as themselves as more powerful. After the election,
this came at a bad time. Their batters struck out. One had given $2000.00
to assure himself of patronage. I suppose that his fees will increase now
that there will be no l patronage going his way.

Democrats are now whining that it is unfair for a person to run as a Democrat
and change to a Republican after the election. Where were they when a Republican
Senator died and was replaced by an appointed
Democrat?

As you have observed, Colquitt County is now a predominately Republican
County. This was evidenced by the election of county offices and the
recent results of the vote in the General Election.
Shortly after the election of county offices the Honorable William
Fallin spearheaded an effort to make local elections in Colquitt County
nonpartisan. This was followed by an orchestrated performance contrived
to make it appear that there was a ground swell of support. There was
not.

It is apparent that the loss of political patronage was the fear and not
to save money on elections as claimed. Partisan elections had served the
Democrats well while they were assured of Democrat control. Facing a
loss of control, they now want to go nonpartisan.

Patronage is difficult to prove even though the practice is widely known
of and accepted as spoils of victory. There is, however; one phrase of
patronage which is readily provable by records. This phase is the space
rent of government buildings.

In order that this not be considered a nonconformist zealot charge, I
ask you to obtain State records deemed public information relative to
buildings in Colquitt County owned by the State and its agencies, the
amount of the lease, and the ones to whom the leases are let. Also
indicate those, if any, which were advertised to be rented and for which
competitive bids were obtained. I believe that this will prove my point.
I would like you to send a copy to me, Senator Rooney Bowen,
Representative Elect Rynders, Senator Elect John Bulloch, The Moultrie
Observer, The Colquitt Shopper, and the Buyers Guide.

By law to make the change to nonpartisan elections legislation must be
entered as local legislation and by practice the majority of the
elective delegation must approve it.

I ask you to consider this request of the Honorable Fallin very
closely. I believe that it will be very counterproductive to the
Republican position in Colquitt County. Recent events in reapportionment
and other actions indicate that the Georgia Democratic Party and it key
supporters are more interested in their own political and financial well
being that of their constituency.
